It's so obvious when white people want to use a genuine issue or point of controversy to just rip the shit out of Black people. We saw it when Will slapped Jamie, we saw it when the celebrity sex offenders were caught and we see it in threads about Caster Semanya.

It isn't about whether you think Caster is a she or a he, or should or shouldn't race against women. It's about how you speak about the person, where they come from and who they are. It's how you speak about their body and their character. The language you use.

Most of all, it's about that itch that Black people and I am sure other non-white people get when you just know.

Mumsnet AI suggested I title this "How can threads address race related controversies without dehumanising Black people?"

No, I think I'll call it, "I see you (and I think others will too)".

I get the itch but getting Chris Rock mixed up with Jamie Foxx doesn't help your argument.

I was thinking also of how everyone went after Jamie Foxx recently over the Tourettes stuff. There were a few things I wanted to give as examples.

I was not impressed by Jamie's contribution to the whole debacle, tbh. Sometimes it is best to say nothing at all. Jayme Lawson's comments, on the other hand were spot on. But yes, of course what she had to say did not go viral, in the same way that Jamie did, which is of course typical!

Who went after him? I thought he was called out for being ableist and misunderstanding tourettes.

Some people went after him because he is Black and dared have feelings about the N word being shouted at Black men on stage. They made that clear in their comments.

Know exactly what you mean and
I've always phased it
" I have you in my eye"
For some unknown reason

Another things they do is randomly cite some race based thing where it isnt relevant. Woman just now chose to cite a study where they found Black infants were much more likely to have a very low birth weight than their white counterparts. That made them more likely to die. Originally the researchers thought the compounding variable was the race of the doctors but later found it was very low birth weight. The racists thought it meant racism was a lie.

What it actually pointed to is the shittier prenatal care Black women get which makes them more susceptible to unplanned premature birth. We know one way to get better maternity care for Black women (particularly in the US) is to have a Black provider.
