Blue Therapy - the therapy show for black couples is back. Real couples and a real therapist this time - should be interesting watching!

Dami and Jermaine separated by the back of Karen Doherty's head as they vent their frustrations.

Watching, I’m enjoying it so far.

Rictasmorticia · 05/03/2026 22:07

I thought it was really well done. The problems were very real without any sensationalism. I think everyone can relate to the problems aired.

PinkPomeloFruit · 05/03/2026 22:13

Definitely. I really felt so sorry for Mons though, she deserved better
I also loved Yasmin’s blue off the shoulder outfit, she looked beautiful.

Quite a lot of man-children disappointingly

I thought I was the only one watching! I’m really enjoying it too - really like Yasmine - think she’s coming across really well - she’s much more understanding and articulate than I would be in that situation. Also love Dami. Agree on the man-children - the men are not coming across well at all. If they were less defensive and just acknowledged what their partners were trying to tell them they’d have a lot less issues!

There are so many men who just check out of the domestic, mental load and supportive role. They think because they are earning the money they are taking care of their half. I know men in real life who have this same attitude.

The bit that struck home for me when the man said “oh you have this rants from time to time”. My DH would say the same thing.i put up with stuff silently for so so long,, then I would try to talk to him about how I felt, but was dismissed.

I hope in later episodes they give the couples the tools to deal with the problems.

I felt the lady that said she felt sex was transactional was spot on. He cleaned the house and thought she should “repay” him with her body. I think a lot of men don’t think about sex foreplay until they get in bed. Making a woman feel valued and wanting to desire you takes a lot more work than just a bit of hoovering.

I wish this thread has more traffic. I found it by accident as I don’t usually look at the ‘black women’ topic. Although the couples on the programme are all black, the problems seem to cover a much wider demographic.

I watched it and personally loved it! Kelvin and Jermaine are very much like my DH so it was refreshing to see how other women handle that behaviour in a relationship. I felt seen in a way. Since watching it he
