So I’m Jamaican but British born. My husband is white British and he loves Jamaica as much as I do we try and go as much as we can and to visit family. We brought BIL with us a few years ago.

He sent DH a tik tok today of the hotel we stayed at that time and it has been completely destroyed in some areas. He said “looks different to when we was there” with lots of laughing faces.

i have my family there that I can’t even get in touch with. DH doesn’t correct him either I find it so disrespectful.

He’s an insensitive prick.

Why did your DH show you, and was it with a sense of “look what my brother has just sent, how awful” or “look at this funny thing my brother just sent”?

He can’t really have sent laughter emojis?

Your husband shouldn't have shown you BIL's stupid message -- what could it have achieved other than upsetting you? I hope he has now made it clear to BIL that his insensitive comments aren't wanted. And I hope your family and friends are safe.

I've seen a few reels posted online with Jamaicans laughing in the background while filming the storm.

The comments underneath the reels are all quite interestingly along the lines of how chilled out Jamaicans are and how everyone should be as relaxed as they are.
Perhaps its their way of dealing with things.

Yeah really stupid. I've only just heard from family that they are safe, the wait when you're abroad is just so tense.
