I'm not surprised at all.

Neither

This sounds familiar. I feel like I already knew this and I’m not sure why. But yeah I wouldn’t be surprised either.

I read the article. And remembered reading Bret Rabbit as a child. By Enid blyton. I wonder if she credited her sources.

CapaciousHag · 29/05/2023 06:24

Could you elaborate, @Rummikub - I’m unsure of the point you’re making?

I was referencing the article. It’s says that it’s thought that Beatrix Potter took inspiration (and more) from the original Brer Rabbit African folk tales. It seems that Enid Blyton did the same but much more directly if my memory of her books is correct. And I think these links should be acknowledged.

ginghamstarfish · 29/05/2023 12:26

So what? Many, many stories are influenced by older ones, I'm sure the person doing the discrediting could find many more examples if they looked.

CapaciousHag · 29/05/2023 12:56

Mythology, music, philosophy, art …

Just imagine what the world might be if the rightful originators of so much human culture had been properly credited across history.

So what?

a people whose history seems to have been disappeared and only seems to have started in many people’s minds (including their own) from slavery and you don’t think it’s appropriate to highlight this appropriation?

CampsieGlamper · 25/07/2023 20:02

What a wonderful opportunity for a black woman to write the original African tales, illustrated by a black artist and with a good black publicist have a wonderful and profitable enterprise.

Rummikub
I doubt it
You know the original title of the
'Then there were none' book right?
And what about Noddys worse enemy then?
