My dds hair lately has gone crispy. I’ve been using (what I thought) was a moisturising shampoo and conditioner (coconut one for dry hair). I don’t think it’s right though.
Im white and I have no idea. Her dad is a quarter jamaican and says he has no idea 🤷‍♀️

I have nobody in rl to ask and I’m totally confused by what I see online. I think her hair is 3b curls ??? But as I said it’s gone very crispy lately.

What can I use that will help. I looked at curly girl method but is this ok for her hair ? Sorry if this is not ok to ask here I can get this removed if its not ok

@TokenGinger what about moisturizer? Thanks again.

Soma · 03/02/2023 10:16

@mishmased agree, Denman brushes are very good. Go whatever size works for you.

@Underminer Thank you so much ❤️

@mishmased We use the conditioner bar and the liquid conditioner as our moisturiser. The avocado is the most intensive, followed by the Jamaican Black Castor Oil which is what we're using at the moment.

They also do a hair mask which would be good for 4c hair. I use it on my son's hair in the summer time when the heat is drying his hair out a little, but it's a bit too heavy during winter time. However, my DP has 4c hair and he can use the hair mask year round as a leave in, but if we do that, then he omits using the conditioner bar and uses just the mask xx

Thanks @TokenGinger and @soma. I read reviews on Amazon about the hair brush and it seems there are some fakes being sold. Any ideas how to know which is the real one?
I'm in Ireland so it will take a while to get my order over so I'm the meantime I have bought this Shea butter thing from boots. No more coconut oil.

@mishmased That'll be great for detangling but in terms of moisture and a leave in conditioner in the meantime until you can order, I'd recommend Mielle. Don't be shy with it. I coat my son's hair in leave in conditioner until it's almost white with conditioner, then use a hair dryer on low heat to help his hair absorb the moisture.

In terms of the Denman brush, make sure it says Denman in the description and scroll down to where it has the photos on the page and it'll have the official Denman photos on there. Alternatively, Boots sell them if you have one nearby x

Thanks so much @TokenGinger you're super. Thought I'd post a pick of coconut loving and hating hair below. Both kids are around 20 months, first and second pic same child, third current 20 month old (in chickenpox phase 🤣
Oldest child's hair is also coconut oil hating similar to baby.
It's amazing how they can all have different hair types. Thanks again, will get that product and let you know how we get on as eldest wants to grow out his hair to be like middle's Afro but his hair is very difficult to comb/brush.

@mishmased Wow, their hair types are so different, aren't they? But all so gorgeous I've just had a DD who's 3 weeks old and I'm intrigued to see how her curl pattern will form as she grows.
