Hi guys,
Just looking at anyone living in or lived in Chelmsford Essex. Me Black DH white planning to raise our children there ... what's is like ? Any diversity? Schools? Shops etc.
I like that idea that it's not too far from family In NE London, bigger houses for less money, good shopping, but just don't want out future child being "the only one in the village".
Thanks ... and PS Love that I've found this corner of MN!! Smile

I had DS at Broomfield, I was treated very well and I thought it was a great hospital. The shopping area was okay, but reminded me of a town, even though Chelmsford is a city! Don't know much about the diversity and schools, but hopefully some more people will come along to share their experiences.

I am white. I live in Chelmsford district. Chelmsford itself is quite diverse although a lot of the villages are not. My DS went to the boys grammar which is very multicultural, it’s probably what attracts so many here.

My experience of diversity in Chelmsford/Billericay is not good. I'm white and from North London and had to live with Ex's family down there for a while. I found attitudes quite shocking on more than one occasion including from within ex's family.

Sorry don't want to come across so negative, it could just have been them and was 15 yrs ago now.

Let's just say it was a massive contrast to N London! Good luck though OP.

Chelmsford and Eesex in general is not very diverse.
