I've been single for a very long time and now feel ready to start dating. Can anyone recommend a tried and tested online dating site for a Mature, Black women seeking friendship leading to LTR. I've tried a few of the main sites but I'm never sure what to say after the first 2/3 messages also not sure if the men are attracted to POC. Would be interested in hearing some recommend sites being used .

@Delectable, what a lovely story. I like that you were ruthless in pursuing what you wanted and got it in the end. Great advice.

I met my DH on bumble... It does take a lot to weed out the garbage. I would agree with picking a man that treats you the best. I've dated africans and caribbeans...in the end i got the best treatment from a white european

@Buggritbuggrit and @Delectable, I've enjoyed your posts here in particular because of how much you've enjoyed the process and also being successful. It's an important perspective to share.

I don't have much else to add, OP, as I fully agree with the pp above.

I'd say treat OLD as you would other avenues of meeting people. You'll find both the good and bad.

Be security and safety conscious in the same way you would with someone in real life; meet in public places.

I don't have much recent knowledge of OLD besides what I hear from people. I hear OKCupid has match questions that help weed out what you don't want and increase the chances of finding what you do. Of course, it's better if the other person also answers the questions.Smile

Anyway goodluck to everyone and congrats @Buggritbuggrit on your engagement.Flowers

@NotSoNewAndShiny Thank you! Smile

@Buggritbuggrit that's so sweet of him to seize the opportunity to ask in person. Many congratulations. My DH also asked my dad's permission in person when he happened to be here on holiday. When do you plan to get married? Will you incorporate your tradition in your wedding? You're right we're derailing the thread. I'll PM you.

@TouchMyToe many congratulations to you as well and thanks for sharing your success. I'd only ever considered men of my tribe for the only reason that I want my children to speak my mother tongue. I then had an epiphany after they'd "showed me pepper" lol! Within two years of deciding to widen my net I met the best man for me. I feel it's helpful to let others know how they met especially those who are ready and have been looking for a while it's not as easy to meet new people once late 30s, so encouragement can be helpful.

@NotSoNewAndShiny thank you.

I'm praying everyone out there meets the right person for them.

I often come back to this thread to read updates. I haven't started yet and one poster said what I realised - that you have to be committed to OLD and invest the time otherwise it doesn't work and can be a struggle. I don't feel that I am there yet so often just lurk on the sites. Which also
means I'm probably not sure what I'm looking for but when I am ready I will feel confident to write an amazing profile and take on all the advice . Your posts have been inspiring. Thanks !
