Rudolph Malcolm Walker CBE aka Patrick from EastEnders is a Legend. Patrick's Bottle has also made history on MN.

Diane Parish aka Denise Fox, I love her acting. Fans were really happy recently because she had a hair change and better makeup. It turns out, because of the corona, actors have been asked to do their own mak-up during the filming of EastEnders. I don't know whether this is true or not.

I love Tamara Lawrence.

JayDot500 · 26/09/2020 11:55

Michaela Coel is just on another level right now. I loved Chewing Gum but I love everything she's been in subsequently, especially I May Destroy You. I also love Naomie Harris, she's just got grace on screen.

Worst... I'm actually not a major fan of Lenny Henry but that might just be a generational thing and perhaps I've missed out on his best stuff.

ThinSlicePizza · 26/09/2020 12:02

Michaela Coel, I would vote for her to play Nina Simone in a biopic.

Jimmy Akingbola. I remember seeing him in holby city and thinking he would go far.

ThinSlicePizza · 26/09/2020 12:06

Tamara Lawrence interesting actor. I didn't know her name. On her IMBD she plays one of the Twins / Gibson sisters from Walse.
I have read discussions around them and why they turned out the way they did. a fascinating but sad and tragic story.

Tamara Lawrence is going on my to watch list.

Thandie Newton was great in Line of Duty....Michaela Coel....Micheal Ward...Damson Idris...Daniel Kaluuya!!!

ThinSlicePizza · 26/09/2020 12:17

Daniel Kaluuya and Sophie Okonedo too. I think Daniel is going for the Oscars now and he will get it soon. (Judas and the black messiah has so much potential). Interesting selection of movies he has been featured and the lead role in, similar to Lupita.

Letitia Wright needs to be given lead roles to make her shine through like the rest of the black panther cast. I Feel like she has has been overlooked.

I love Kayode Ewumi and Michaela Cole.

Nopenotsureigiveahoot · 26/09/2020 12:24

@Dastardlythefriendlymutt I would love to see more of Kayode. I know he had his own BBC comedy but it wasn't my cup of tea.

ThinSlicePizza · 26/09/2020 12:25

Thandie Newton is ace.

This is a Must Read. The one person I look forward to when they are dead. (Thandie made the statement about having a Blackbook she would wish to publish when she is on her death bed or dead). Re-acting industry.

You also, find out she was going to be in the movie charlie's angels and rejected the role because of racism. They wanted her to act rachet. She was then replaced with Lucy Liu.

Very funny too.

Rudolph Walker, Carmen Munroe, Sophie Okonedo, Lucian Msamati, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Adrian Lester. There are so many....

PompomDahlia · 27/09/2020 17:18

It's a shame that we lose so much talent to the US. Though it is lovely to see young actors like John Boyega and Daniel Kaluuya going out and having their careers taking off.

Diane Parish is great and I love Rudolph Walker.

I have a lot of respect for actors like Earl Cameron who passed away recently and must have been through so much to be a black actor all that time ago.

SlowHorse · 28/09/2020 05:40

Idris Elba - 'nuff said.

Michaela Cole is what I call an actor; amazing chameleon and a writer.

I dont understand Thandie Newton love in - one trick pony to me but will look at link and be educated.

RedRumTheHorse · 28/09/2020 15:12

@JayDot500 it is an age thing.

He is one of the few black people in main stream entertainment who was visible on TV in the 1970s and early 1980s. By mainstream, I mean not hidden away on children's TV.

At the moment he's trying, like David Olusoga, to raise awareness that more black people need to be given the chance to be behind the camera not just in front of it so we can shape TV output in the UK.

eddiemairswife · 28/09/2020 15:20

Worst must be the actor who plays Ed in Coronation Street.

ThinSlicePizza · 28/09/2020 17:40

David Harewood superb acting. I find that Idris Elba always gives the same constipated look, I think its meant to be smoldering.

Freema Agyeman is great but I think British tv failed her. (I didn't understand her role in the Carrie dairies. The producers needed to introduce a main black character to a tv show which was mainly white by having Carrie have a black mentor. young Carrie from Sex and the city )

My not so favorite has to be Tameka Empson especially for playing Kim Fox. When she arrived in Easterender, her character used to make uncomfortable. (I put it down to my own bias of her character). I haven't watched Eastender in while, so I don't know what character development has happened to Kim fox.

Anjoa Andah from Casualty to Invictus!

Farle29 · 21/10/2020 10:36

Josette Simon is brilliant and should have her own lead in a show like Vera or Broadchurch.

Lennie James is also brilliant and so underrated
