Due June 2009: first time expectant mum in central/west London/Marylebone

Hi,

I am not good at these chat things and got a little overwhelmed reading the ones with 4,000 posts and threads. Sigh.

Basically I am a 32 year-old, married American woman living in Marylebone, expecting my first child in June 2009 (fingers crossed) at Great Portland Hospital. I guess you could also say I am a temporarily recovering lawyer.

I would love to meet other expectant mums nearby, and crave all other advice anyone wants to give as I am doing this far away from family in the states.

I guess that's it!

Thanks for the suggestion, in fact I'm already following that thread! actually posted a few times awhile back, its just a bit speedy for me right now. Hoping to contribute more when my maternity leave starts, in mid-May.

So in the meantime? yes lets say April 18th! I had some suggestions earlier about places to meet up, here they are:

(snip)
Some initial thoughts: maybe the patio at the Bridge House in Maida Vale if its nice out, the rooftop café at Alfie's antiques market on Church St, or somewhere around the Whiteley's?
(snip)

But I am happy to go somewhere farther into Maida Vale/Notting Hill direction if that suits, depends on where you/others are coming from.

cheers

Hi Ladies,

Apologies for my absence! Flat-hunting and work has consumed me the past few weeks, but we've just locked in a flat in Maida Vale so I'm very keen to catch up. We're moving 17th / 18th April, but I'm sure I can slip away for a catch up! Any of those places suit me.

I'm still around this weekend if you want to catch up sooner.

Look forward to meeting you all soon.

hi Emma, congrats on finding a flat! (and Belinda hope your move is going well!)

I can easily do next Saturday (11th) instead of the 18th -- is that better for you both?

I'm the only one who's not moving so it should be up to you could also do the w/e following ?

Thanks Katherine,

Would love to do the 11th, but we're heading away.

Let's stick with the 18th and I'll see you then!

Cheers

Emma

Ok, sounds good. I was going to suggest something like coffee, late-morning somewhere (11am) but again if you're moving it might be easier to meet up in the afternoon, say 3?

Hope you have a great weekend away

cheers

Morning ladies!

3pm on the 18th sounds good to me, and of the places you were suggesting, Alfies or near Whitelys sounds great! Have been wanting to go to Alfies for a while, and now I have moved west, will be much easier.

Enjoy the rest of your Easters.

Hi all

3pm at the rooftop cafe/Alfie's or somewhere in Whiteley's would be good -- Emma, do you have a preference?

I have to say Alfie's is quite the experience if you haven't been -- recommend taking some time before/after coffee to explore! There are also some great antique shops out on Church street and the regular market stalls further down?

hope you're all having a good Easter weekend,

Hi,

I'm a Marylebone-mum-to-be, due in May. I have just picked up on the thread and would love to meet some mums-to-be in my area. Can I join you ladies on Saturday?

hello all,
I am totally hopeless at keeping up on mumsnet but have just spotted your post and, having failed to meet with some of the other west londoners also due in june (my hopeless mumsnet checking to blame,) i'd love to meet up with you this saturday 18th? I live in notting hill, am due june 14 and this is my first baby - we have friends in London but know no local mums-to-be... yet. I can do 3pm.. whiteleys, alfies or the bridge cafe are all fine for me.

Hi Milly6 and Humlan

How exciting, do join us! Great timing that you found this just before our meetup

Why don't we say Alfie's rooftop café for now (unless someone needs to veto it) as there are nice big round tables on the patio, if its sunny and we can get one, it would be a lovely place to meet.

Hi all,

Alfies @ 3pm on Saturday sounds great!(I'm flexible if chance of location is required)

Very much looking forward meeting everyone!

Very exciting! I've been to Alfies before but not the cafe. looking forward to it. Will see you all at 3pm. No need for red carnations or a hanky in the pocket - you'll be able to spot me by the bump! See you then. A

Hello Ladies,

Alfies at 3:00pm sounds superb! Very excited about meeting all of you. I will look out for a gathering of bumps!

Morning!

Yes, 3pm at Alfies cafe sounds great. Doubt we will be hard to miss! I better leave the house at 1pm to give me time to waddle walk there

Just thought I'd mention that the cafe is accessible through one of two staircases in the centre of the building, its a bit of a maze:

Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow!
