BLOOD TEST shows 43 days pregnant - is this from conception or something else???

Right, had a blood test yesterday as was unsure how far gone due to different length cycles and a light period last time. I've been told this morning that I was 43 days pregnant yesterday.

I'm always confused about how they work thing, I think they normally work it from your last period but how do they work out I'm 43 days then?? How do I work out due date? (if everything ok that is, I'm having emergency scan on Friday).

Was on the pill until July and then this has been my cycles since:

CD1 - 22nd July (normal period)
32 days later....
CD1 - 23rd August (2 days of light bleeding)
25 days later....
CD1 - 17th September (light bleed off on for few days)
BFP on CD30 - 16th October

Now I'm confused about what to put in these online calculators to work out the due date??? LMP won't calculate correctly but then if I put conception date as 43 days ago, it comes up as if I'm 8 weeks pregnant and the Dr said I was 6 weeks on the phone. Totally confused, anyone able to shed any light on this?? I know I've got the scan on Friday but you know what us women are like - we want to know NOW (well, I do anyway!)

TIA

looney not meant to be in these threads, but couldn't help but reply. When you conceive you're already 2 weeks gone (or 14 days). So knock off 14 days from doc's estimate and that'll be the day you ovulated (and remember, you could have had sex up to five days before that day to still fertilise the egg).

fingers crossed everything's ok for you.

Cheers DG - you ARE the expert after all!!

Has AF turned up yet???

Oh....VERY interesting.....that means conceived CD9 (if correct blood test, they did say twins can affect the levels and I have high possibility).....both times I used Persona monitor, it never showed an egg but I did get EWCM (little) on CD9 - although I'd have the 2nd line on the test sticks for 2 days around CD13

lol- more obsessive than expert (seeing as I've never been pg before!)

ooo - so you think it's more likely you conceived on CD14?? Meaning higher hormones, meaning could be twins! How exciting!

Still no AF for me yet. Not testing till Saturday tho (potentially 15/16dpo)...as I really think it'll turn up soon.

Good luck hon x

josey · 24/10/2007 14:12

Ok so counting 43days back and making you 6weeks pg that would mean your LMP should have been 11/9/07
It sounds as though you just havent had a proper cycle at all and then you have had an egg and just been lucky
If i mix about with the days saying that ok you didnt bleed on the 11th but that was cd1 then the 26th instead of cd9 when you had EWCM it would have been cd15 which is very possible am I making a up a heap of rubbish just trying to justify things for you??

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 14:35

Well my brother and sister are twins, my mum's brother and sister are twins and these boy/girl twins on 2nd pregnancy go back for generations so it is possible. I've also had TWO people in RL tell us that they cracked eggs with 2 yolks at the weekend....not sure if you've heard of that but it's supposed to mean twins. One of the people predicts things and insists it's us and that last time it came true. We'll see. Part of me worries in case it's that I conceived earlier but hormones are dropping....I'll know more after the scan on Friday!

Thanks for your help

DG - I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you!! xx

I've got my scan tomorrow and picked up my letter from the Dr's. They make my EDD different to what I had worked out, got it as 16th June and also have 10th September down as LMP - last period was actually on 17th September, on 10th September I was CD19! Oh well....this I presume means I either ovulate at a funny time, there's more than 1 which is making me appear further gone or I am further gone but hormone levels are dropping as a problem.

Just wondered if you could make any sense of this???

Maybe they think you ovulated/conceived on the 24th (which would be your CD7 but their CD14). Does that sound likely?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 25/10/2007 18:37

God knows I suppose I'll just have to ask them tomorrow! I wouldn't have thought twice about it before ttc on MN but with all the info and this not adding up, it's had my head in a spin! lol. HOPEFULLY all will be clear tomorrow! One thing I do know....I had a 2nd line on my test stick on CD13 and a LITTLE EWCM on CD9

digitalgirl · 25/10/2007 18:50

sounds very strange to me. hope the scan clears things up.

I've learnt not to trust OPK's since I got a on my CBD and then didn't ovulate (i.e. no AF or bfp 14-21 days later)

it's going to hard to prove when you ovulated without having charted your temperatures, so stick with what you think is right (i.e. around the time you KNOW you had sex) until a dating scan proves otherwise...

sorry i couldn't be more helpful

digitalgirl · 25/10/2007 18:51

PS good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 25/10/2007 19:04

Cheers for that, hopefully tomorrow will clear things up and I can confirm. Will let you know what happens. Thanks for your help and DO let me know if you get your BFP - I saw you want to test!! xx

Me again. They couldn't see baby but could see a gestation sack and yolk sack. They said it's measuring 5+5 and they wouldn't be able to get a heartbeat until 6+ weeks. I've got another scan next Friday and they'll know for sure because if it still measures the same and no heartbeat, they'll know the baby didn't make it. Otherwise, fingers crossed, there will be a slightly bigger sack and a heartbeat. Now I've got to try and not think about it for a week otherwise I'll go mad!!! Oh....blood pressure is low and she said it will get lower (if pregnancy ok) as I get further on so I have to be very careful getting up etc - explains why I nearly passed out the other day when tidying the playroom!!

DG - the sack is measuring about what you'd expect from my last period so that's sort of reassuring (I think)....I'm wondering if they got it wrong about 43 days pregnant because I ovulated earlier? I did get EWCM on CD9 - oh, I don't know what I'm asking, it sort of made sense in my head a minute ago

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 26/10/2007 14:23

So if it's 5+5 does that make it 40days, meaning they were a few days out. Maybe you've got super HCG hormones!

Glad it makes sense with your last AF though. See! Doctor's don't know everything! Stick with your own dates in your head and good luck for next week's scan.

dgx

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 26/10/2007 14:52

yes, does appear Dr's don't always have a clue They did say that twins can make the hormones higher but the fact it's only a BIT higher I doubt it's that plus there was only one sac and my family history of twins is boy/girl so presume 2 sacs.

Will just see what they say next week!

Thanks for your help on this

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 26/10/2007 16:36

i reckon your fertilised egg must have zoomed down the tube and implanted itself earlier than doctors textbook normal, so it started producing hormones a few days earlier.

If you believe everything you read on tinternet it can take anything from 3 days to 12 days for implantation.

Are you sad it's not twin? Or are you secretly breathing a sigh of relief?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 26/10/2007 16:47

DG - I was bricking it the fact it could be twins for lots of reasons (we've always struggled majorly with money and being a childminder, would have meant giving notice to a child plus twins involve lot more work, more time off etc and I worried about my business plus the space in the house etc). Then I started to panic on Monday and you know what......it could be quads and I'd be happy - just wanted this pregnancy to be ok no matter what!!! I would LOVE twins if it wouldn't cause SUCH problems, if I could have time to just be a mum rather than have a couple of weeks maternity leave etc etc. Anyway....I wouldn't be unhappy if it was twins, I can tell you that now. But practically, if it's one it makes life a lot easier! Hope that makes sense!

I like the 'zoomed down the tube' bit God knows what really goes on inside our bodies eh!
