Hello all, I’m so sorry I completely missed this thread! I have been meaning to update but newborn fog....
So I ended up being induced at 42 weeks, baby really not wanting to shift on his own despite many a stern word from me and 2 sweeps, all the old wives tales didn’t get him moving.
So I had the propess but that was enough to get things going. I did my hypnobirthing techniques, even managed to sleep in short bursts between each contraction somehow! Listened to music and shut everything else out. when things started to ramp up I asked them to examine me a bit earlier than they were going to - and with the blessed gas and air. They discovered I was 7cm, time to go to delivery. Despite being past the dates cut off as I was now technically 42+1, they let me use the birth centre and the pool which was wonderful. Lots of gas and air I bloody love the stuff. Baby was born not long after getting in the pool. Dh made it just 10 mins before baby did (we live an hour away from hospital). Baby was 9lbs 7oz and had wrinkly skin and long finger nails so was definitely over cooked!
Placenta took a while to come out and I Needed stitches for second degree tear which to honest was the worst bit of the whole thing. Baby latched on and had a feed. Once I’d done my two wees we were allowed home. Such an amazing experience and so so different to my borderline traumatic first birth.
So that was all on 6th July, baby is 3 weeks today and is a little love. He’s so calm and chilled as long as he is being held. Has started to be ok sleeping in his crib at night but not yet in the day. Only problem is he is very very gassy, finds it hard to get wind up and can’t settle flat on his back. Poor thing. I am thinking it might be reflux and seeing HV on weds so going to ask her if we should do something about it / look at medication or just roll with it for now and make him as comfy as possible.
Oldest kid (3 yo) is doing well and adores her brother but is struggling a bit with lack of attention. Baby feeedjnf well but still hasn’t regained his birth weight. Will see on Wednesday if he has yet or not.
I’m glad to read your updates ladies, I am so glad I found this as i thought everyone had stopped posting after they’d had their babies (sorry I did exactly that).
First day flying solo with two kids for me - dh back at work from furlough. This is going to be interesting!!!!
