Hi Coco & Meggle,

I grow up here in Canterbury, then moved to london then decided to come back! I really like it and have an enjoyable life

Are you both pg, and if so, is it your first? It's my first and I'm due in late august/early sept! Getting excited!!!!

another Canterbury girl!! I'm thinking maybe we all know each other????!!!!

spraklynewthing · 08/05/2007 10:56

Oh dear, just re-read my previous message ' I GROW up here..'

I GREW up here! [hmmm]. Sorry ladies!

I agree with flightattendant - it is funny. I peer (hopefully in a non-scary manner) at all pg women around town thinking,'I wonder if I have just been chatting to you on Mumsnet'. Not really something you can drop into conversation in the queue in M&S!!

Hi Puppie. I'll be giving birth in Darent Valley if I don't get the home birth that I want. I had dd there just over 2 years ago.

Cocobabe · 08/05/2007 16:42

Ooops ! just realised i misread the title - in a tired daze i thought it was post-natal !..so im not pg ladies ..have 2 adorable kids !Hope your pregancies are going 'blooming'well !

Puppie · 11/05/2007 09:22

Oooh Hi Gill! When are you due? I'm in Sept....was your experience there okay?

GillL · 11/05/2007 13:16

Hi Puppie. I'm due on 19th August. My experience at Darent Valley was ok on the whole. The birth was fine but I found the aftercare left a little to be desired. They transferred me to a bed on the ward after dd was born and then pretty much left me to get on with it. Nobody came to check I was ok - I had to ask for everything myself by pressing the emergency button (no one told me I should go out to the midwives desk if I was able to get out of bed). I got told off for changing the baby on the bed even though no one had told me otherwise. I had fed dd just after she was born (9am) and later on I asked if I should feed her again as she had been asleep ever since. The answer I got was 'if you want'. I'm sure it was just because they were stressed and understaffed but I still felt like I might as well have gone home to fend for myself. I wish I had cos I got no sleep with all the noise after a woman who'd just had a cesarean came on to the ward at 11pm (just when I settled down). I don't know if that was a one off experience but I haven't heard anyone else say anything bad. I'm sure in the grand scheme of things I shouldn't complain compared to the stories you hear about other hospitals. I wouldn't stay in any hopital overnight again if I had the choice. If I'd stayed at home the first night dd was born I'd have got a full nights sleep as she slept pretty much all day and all night. I hope I haven't put you off going there. I'm sure it'll be fine. You just need to make sure you know where everything is and what you're supposed to do and to ask for help when you need it.

Puppie · 11/05/2007 15:57

Thank you Gill that was helpful and no you havent put me off going there. To be honest I havent actually heard of any place where the care was fabulous and I think I will take on board what you're saying and not stay the night if all goes well with my pregnancy

growingbagpuss · 11/05/2007 16:00

Hi,

I'm in maidstone too - some familiar names on this list... looks like there might be a rush on in august round here!!

Gemtubbs · 27/05/2007 12:46

Hello, I live in Maidstone as well! Just found out we're expecting a baby and we live in a tiny 1 bedroom flat right now, so I'm going to be writing to all the housing associations this week. I think baby is due in January.

Love Gem.xXx

RGPargy · 27/05/2007 20:14
