How can I tell if I'm starting to miscarry?

I shall be 6 weeks tomorrow and I've had quite a rocky couple of weeks with severe stomach pains. Went to docs today for a follow up and as the pain has eased a bit the response seemed positive (the pain had been much less severe and less frequent and I'd had no bleeding) but they are going to try and get an early scan to put my mind at ease.

However, I've just gone to the loo and there was a pink tinge to the toilet paper (sorry if tmi). I'm now really scared. I've heard that you can have some spotting in the early days and everything be ok, but the thought of having and bleeding really scares me. :(

Does anyone have any advice please?

Melvali, I'm so pleased your scan went well and they found the heartbeat! :)

In terms of the dating you might find it changes down the line. My first scan was at what I considered 6wks 1 day, but they dated 5 wks 6 days. But at second scan I was 9 wks 1 day and they dated 9 wks 2 days! I don't think they actually change your due date though unless you're measuring differently a bit further along.

Fingers crossed things start to calm down now so we can start to breathe a bit more easily. X

Hi Melvali and Maybe baby,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the support on this thread over the past few weeks. It was nice to have someone to talk to in a similar situation. I had been planning on joining the July 2016 thread but held off when the bleeding started and don't want to post on there now as it will bring everyone down. Sadly my bleeding was a mc, my dr confirmed it a few days ago. I had been surprised to catch on straight after coming off the pill and that means I have no idea how far along I was. Anyway I just wanted you to know that it really helped having someone to talk to and wish you both the most uneventful and happiest pregnancies X

Hi ladies. I'm 26 weeks and have had bleeding throughout the pregnancy. My last bleed was at just over 23 weeks and I ended up in hospital for 5 days. I've been told every time that brown blood is old and usually you will be ok, red blood is fresh but as long as you have no pain and you are not saturating pad after pad you are generally ok then to. I know that my bleeding is from a placental haemorrhage so last time I went in they gave me steroids to help baby as there is a chance he'll come early. It can be anything though. Because you have more blood, especially in the pelvic region, you can cause blood vessels to burst in the vagina etc.
My last bleed was gushing out of me but baby was still fine. One thing that I found helped was no sex, plenty of rest and drinking plenty of fluids as dehydration can cause contractions (only found that out in this pregnancy). Hope all goes well for you.
Sorry for your loss havetobe Flowers
