Half way there, help me find a middle name?

I like the name Penelope for a first name and our surname is Curtis. Can anyone think of a nice middle name? I think it ought to be pretty short or it would end up a real mouthful.

Also do you think it goes?

Just seen previous posts - definitely go for May. So lovely to have that link through the generations, plus it is pretty.

MoosMa · 06/10/2006 20:34

May's already used up on DD1 Sorrell! We don't really have annother family name that I'd like to use, my mum's name is the only one I'd consider, but I think Peneople Kathryn sounds a bit odd...

I still like Jane, I think I need to say it lots though to see if it wears out.

If you don't like Penelope Kathryn how about Penelope Kate?

MoosMa · 07/10/2006 15:14

I just put that to dh and he said that Penelope Kate Curtis is a bit hard to say, so we're going to practice Penelope Jane and see how it sits after saying it for a week or so. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll probably be back soon when I change my mind altogether!

What are the grandparents called? Great grandparents?

MoosMa · 07/10/2006 21:37

In no particular order, Kathryn, Mary, Hilda Beatrice, Winifred. Dh doesn't know his grandparents' names. Not a lot of inspiration there I'm afraid...

Penelope Ellen, Bethan, Sarah, Hannah, Jade, Lydia, Lola, Lauren, Ruth, Rebecca - none of them go as well as Jane though!

foundintranslation · 07/10/2006 22:09

I like Penelope Jane very much. jane is also pretty unusual these days.

krabbiepatty · 07/10/2006 22:26

Penny Jane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies etc...
I like Rose.

krabbiepatty · 07/10/2006 22:31

Mi, persephone means something like blotter out of all light like most of thsoe ancient greek names (even if you weren't kidding...)

motherinferior · 08/10/2006 08:51

I've changed my mind, I think you should go for Keith.

MellyMum · 08/10/2006 14:43

Joy ?

Mojomummy · 08/10/2006 15:40

Penelope Kate Curtis

She sounds like a solicitor, vet, doctor Good strong sounding name

Mojomummy · 08/10/2006 15:42

ooh just read the rest of the threads & saw DH isn't keen. I think it's a good snappy name, but then I'm not the daddy !

MoosMa · 08/10/2006 16:51

I have always liked the name Kate, they all seem to be nice people. Maybe I'll say it a few times to dh and see how it sounds...

I'm reviving this very old thread as DD3 is due in 11 weeks and we're considering Penelope again. DD2 ended up being called Tabetha Katy, so I definitely can't use Kate!

I do still think Jane is nice, but like krabbiepatty it does make me think of the song.

DH quite likes Lucy but I think it's a bit of a mouthful.

Any more ideas (we've had 2.5 years to think about it!)

woowa · 22/09/2009 20:28

I know this isn't really what you were asking, but at the moment our fave name for dc if it's a girl has 4 syllables like penelope....but the middle name that goes with it has 3! And our surname has 4 too...It sounds like you prefer short ones but i don't think you have to stick to short if your imagination goes wild!

Penelope Ayda Curtis
Penelope Lois Curtis
Penelope Ellen Curtis

Hope this helps! I love the name Ayda as Ava is so popular now. Lois is an old name but love it, if mine little one is a girl Lois is going to be her middle name.

Cindy
