Thought I'd start a thread about it to see if it would work! Sign up here if you'd be interested.

(Copied from my post on the other thread) The idea could be that we could choose a colour each like one of us will be orange, another red, another yellow, and even non rainbow colours like hot pink, black, brown, and shades like lime green and bottle green, then all buy a bulk of whichever item - socks, bodysuits, babygrows, muslins, vests... just plain white, inexpensive, simple ones then post them out 1 to everyone who wants to take part. There's a finite number of colours so we'd have to work out numbers but say we have 15 who want to take part, we could split that into 3 groups of 5 so like 3 red ladies, 3 blue, 3 green, 3 yellow, 3 purple, then of those 3, 1 who has like 15 pairs of socks, 1 has 15 bodysuits, 1 has 15 vests... Then we post out 14 items to everyone else and we all end up with 15 multicoloured items. Would that work? Places like supermarkets and Primark have packs of 3 or 5 plain white items cheap, I think I saw 3 packs in Tesco for like 3. The more who sign up the more colours or items we could have, if we get enough then there could be 2 smaller groups instead of 1 large one so we're not buying and posting 50 items!!

I quite fancy doing long sleeve bodysuits in orange. Grin

posy a baby gro has legs but a body suit doesn't. I won't be using socks either.

Mussys, vests, baby gros/body suits 8 reckon.

StudyFullTime · 30/05/2014 14:51

That should have said I reckon...

TwigletFiend · 02/06/2014 12:25

Oh, wait for me! Can I be in too?

I'd like to do a deep red (burgundy I suppose) if everyone would like that? Smile

TeaNCakes · 02/06/2014 13:24

Thanks for asking that Posy, I wasn't sure either! So you'd have a body suit or vest under a baby grow? If we did both with muslins then they'll be lots of lovely layering combinations? And we might as well fill the washing machine!

weeonion · 02/06/2014 21:08

hi folks - i plan to wear a long sleeved baby suit under a baby gro with a cardy / something on top for indoors.

i have bought my lime green dye and got 5 packs of 3 muslins in primark. Will also get some long seeved body suits and some socks for good measure.

Shall we set a date to have everything purchased and dyed for?

I think i am one of the furtherest along but hows about the end of july - as we will all be pretty far along and everyone will be past the 20 week scan??

RandomInternetStranger · 04/06/2014 12:09

Sounds good weeonion! Smile

I've got 12 muslins from mothercare :) I think I'll start with just them and see if I can afford to join you in vests or socks too all though socks are cheaper so more likely :)

I'll have a browse for purple dyes :)

Alita7 · 04/06/2014 12:54

How many of us are doing it? I want to make sure I have enough Muslins.

Is anyone whose doing it NOT on the the facebook group? (trying to decide how we will share addresses in order to send them to eachother)

RandomInternetStranger · 04/06/2014 19:17

Random - orange
Weeonion - lime
Alita - purple
Ladydolly - black/bottle green/navy
MummyV18 - red
Study - bright blue
TeaNCakes - turquoise
Posy - violet
Twiglet - deep red/burgundy

Only us on this thread are doing it. Smile

Sorry guys, I'm not (yet) on the Facebook group. I am undecided about joining so was waiting til after anomaly scan.

End of July sounds good - will get looking for dye Smile

PosyFossilsShoes · 04/06/2014 21:51

hi folks - i plan to wear a long sleeved baby suit under a baby gro with a cardy / something on top for indoors.

And what will the baby be wearing, weeonion?

(Exits before tomatoes are thrown)

StudyFullTime · 04/06/2014 21:55

what does everyone else think?

PosyFossilsShoes · 04/06/2014 22:06

Definitely!

There's a violet on there too but it looks a bit purple & I don't want to end up with the same as Alita who's doing purple (technically both violet and purple are on the rainbow but I'm not sure this will translate to dyes when I think about it!).

Can I offer flamingo pink instead - nobody else has bagged pink?

weeonion · 04/06/2014 23:10

Grin posy! have you been lurking in my wardrobe then????

i am not on the facebook group.

It looks like yellow is missing from the rainbow so far?

Alita7 · 04/06/2014 23:56

if you want to do pink that's cool but if you want violet then we can always liase over dyes, with mine being a more bluey purple and yours being more towards pink?
The rainbow is indigo, Violet so I'd be more on the indigo side?

MummyV18 · 06/06/2014 21:45

I'm not on the Facebook group yet Smile do we have a price budget for everyone to work to??

Alita7 · 07/06/2014 00:14

I think we're just getting the cheapest muslins we find and some machine dye I think we thought dylon was good for babies...

MummyV18 · 07/06/2014 08:22

So are we not doing sleepsuits anymore? X

Alita7 · 07/06/2014 10:40

Well I don't really know if we are. I'm not sure I can afford to do sleep suits as well, (especially knowing my mum will get a whole bunch of them for me anyway...) but I could do socks maybe they're £1.50 for 3 pairs in Primark or maybe little scratch mits? and they would fit in a normal envelope with a muslin easier than a sleep suit so postage would also be cheaper?
I don't mind if you guys do sleep suits without me though :)

weeonion · 07/06/2014 22:12

I think we need to agree as there is the risk costs will spiral.

Scratch mitts are ok but not needed for very long whereas socks ..... we went through them like no-ones business so might be a wiser option???

StudyFullTime · 07/06/2014 22:25

10 mussys for £7.99 on ebay

MummyV18 · 07/06/2014 23:37

I think I'm going to have to back out ladies. I love the idea but I'm not too fussed on the items and I agree that cost could spiral if too many things are added.

Good luck ladies I hope it all works out well. If anyone wants to pick up my colour instead I was red x

weeonion · 08/06/2014 07:25

Aaaw mummy. I am happy to go with sleepsuits / vests if others agree. Dont go just yet til a group decision is reached.....

Alita7 · 08/06/2014 10:43

I think the initial thing we planned on were muslins and then discussions escalated and I think we all got a bit ambitious! .
I think we should stick with muslins as a few of us have already bought them I'm preparation but I don't mind what else we do, but if everyone wants to do sleep suits then just cross me off the list of that bit as to me it's a bigger expense particularly as they may not fit in a normal envelope with a muslin so we'd have to post twice.

RandomInternetStranger · 08/06/2014 17:48

I would vote for bodysuits mainly because I already have rainbow muslins and it's the clothing idea I liked most but can do just muslins as I signed up so feel committed now. Smile
