I'm in the Waveney Valley and I will be taking my clsses at Beccles in November. As far as I know they run the course four times a year.

Coriander73 · 22/08/2006 17:47

Hi there! Where are you giving birth? Ipswich? First or second? This will be my second...DD is 2 on the 4th so am desperate to keep lo inside at least until the 5th (even though I'd quite like to have it now....)!!!!!

EllieK · 22/08/2006 17:51

I chose Colchester as I used to live there, its my first. Can't wait for it to come!! would prefer to stay in till sep though but only because of schools!

Coriander73 · 22/08/2006 19:26

EllieK, I've heard much better things about Ipswich personally but like all these things it's pretty subjective. I had wonderful care at Ipswich last time which made second time around choice easier. Are you midwife led care?

1973magpie · 22/08/2006 19:38

Hi EllieK, I'm in Needham Market I'm only 10 weeks, so not due til March.

I had my dd in Ipswich 6.5 yrs ago, so my info may be out of date!

(All was ok, was looked after well. I only went in 1 hr before dd was born though as I was aiming for a homebirth, and only stayed for the minimum 6hrs afterwards) HTH

Am going to try for another homebirth this time, I have spoken to my midwife (but not met her yet!) and she seems quite keen to promote homebirths so that's good, I didn't want to have to fight for one

1973magpie · 23/08/2006 09:31

Sorry, didn't mean to kill the thread

EllieK · 24/08/2006 19:52

you didn't hun, wasn't online! i won't be allowed home birth, have narcolepsy, doesn't affect childbirth but they panic!

Just a vote for the West Suffolk, I had my ds there last year. Two thumbs up and the midwives are excellent. I'm now in Leeds and seriously unhappy about the prospect of having a future baby here, give me the West Suffolk any day.

EllieK · 24/08/2006 20:18

thanks! my first time there was ok
but felt very hemmed in with no outside to take baby too

Hiya!

I had DS at Ipswich on 16th Sep! As with DD (2 years ago) they were utterly fantastic...I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was in Deben ward (as with DD too funnily) & just had great care. Hope you have the same & good luck!!!

Diners · 06/10/2006 19:49

Thanks alot and good luck with the imminent birth!!
I was really surprised to find a suffolk mums thread and it was nice to see that there is some of us outhere! I only recently moved to this area (orginally from lancashire!) so i dont really know anyone and its nice to see other mums are actually here!

well im still PG, going to try and avoid hospital as much as possible,

glad you're all ok x

DarkAlleyBongo · 06/10/2006 22:35

had both of mine at west suffolk and it rocks... i'm in newmarket

Diners · 07/10/2006 10:01

Has anyone had a section at ipswich?

Coriander73 · 07/10/2006 10:48

Sadly both my babies were sections! First time failure to dilate past 7cm & baby was distressed so emergency under g.a which was a bit of mare to be honest. 3 weeks ago another section (although desperate desperate for a vbac) as despite loss of mucus plug plus waters breaking etc after 12 hours in hospital NO dilation at all...how depressing is that?!! So it was decided that another section was probably best......at least this time I was awake & it made all the difference.. As I said Ipswich is rather fab IMHO!!

I'm originally from London but moved here with DH (who is from Suffolk) 8 years ago & haven't looked back...I love it

Diners · 07/10/2006 15:59

I had to have a section with my first in an emergency with a g.a. too as his cord was round his neck with number 2 i too was really wanting a VBAC but she wouldnt come they were doing stretch and sweeps from 38 weeks and let me go 2 weeks over but no sign so she was a planned section which was much better than the first one but i do know how you feel i wish i could try for a normal birth this time but they wont let you after 2 sections.
Its very depressing and i would love to experience giving birth but i may have it easy on birth but more difficult afterwards and hey my baby is here and at least he got here all safe!

Coriander73 · 07/10/2006 19:42

Yep, I'd have loved a natural birth much as anything but this time, like last, it just didn't happen. It did as I say make a huge difference being awake -(I fell instantly in love with my son!!) but I so wanted to be able to banish the memories of section no 1 & I wasn't able. Of course the most important thing is that I have two beautiful healthy children..for that I'm most grateful but I'm left wondering.... The surgeon also said he'd strongely recommend I don't have any more children so am interested to see you going for the 3rd...
