I decided to take a peek into the antenatal club threads, but there's no June thread yet, although for good reason.

I may be jinxing myself here, but after a couple very very faint positives on ICs for the last couple days I got a positive on an FRER this morning, so thought it would be safe to start one up.

Of course, still early days, but if it sticks my due date will be 3-5 June, depending on several websites.... What can I say, I tested early!

I hope someone comes to join me soon. There have to be some more recent BFPs....

blondiedollface · 14/10/2013 14:13

Sorry I've not been posting much, night shifts combined with DD having conjunctivitis and being excluded from nursery and a proper poorly little duck :(

I am exhausted and just feel like eating crap constantly to alleviate the nausea. 4 hours sleep is not enough to live on, especially in early pg. Yawn!!

Hope everyone else is managing a bit more sleep and those suffering with sickness find a way of at least easing it slightly...

VickyVix · 14/10/2013 15:32

Afternoon ladies, ooh am I able to join this thread please? I'm still in shock as only got my BFP this morning Grin but according to dates I would be due on 18th June based on last AF and on 24th June based on day I ov'd this cycle.

I'm totally new to all of this and don't know what the chances are of this bean sticking, really hope it's a sticky one. Can't wait to tell DH tonight. Just terrified it won't last

One question, sorry of this sounds daft, but is it too soon to book a doc's appointment? I think I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow. Not sure how it works, do I just go along with a bag full of positive HPTs?!?!

TinyTear · 14/10/2013 15:39

they will believe you and refer you to the midwife team... at least that's what happens in my area...

then you get a letter with your appointment dates, but be prepared for an agonising wait until the 12w scan...

Good luck and welcome!

PJen · 14/10/2013 15:58

Momof5 welcome. How do you find space for your little Engels? How do you go for car outing? Wow!! I am impressed. You are a super mummy :)

Hi everyone else. I read all posts but there is not much going on to report on. Bouts of nausea coming and going. My pharmacist gave me over the counter ginger pills that do the magic. Motion sickness bands don't work all the time. I am already showing, which is because of all bloating. I am 7 weeks. Will do an eight weeks scan next Monday and can't wait for it. Waving to everyone. Happy thanksgiving Wispa!!!

VickyVix · 14/10/2013 16:00

Thanks tiny I will give them a call. I thought the 2ww was bad, this 12 week wait is going to be mega, feel sick with excitement, nerves and pure dumbfoundedness

Liquidambar · 14/10/2013 16:30

Welcome VickyVix and mumof5plusazoo.
God, 6 children! That is exciting. I wish I was that brave :)

Feeling poorly. I think I have tonsillitis. Sore throat, pain when swallowing and white spots (sorry tmi) and a temperature (not very high, though)
Went to the local supermarket and bought some salt and lime and have been gargling the mixture.

I am look forward to flying back home tomorrow. It has been such an emotional week, and I am desperate to see DS. Never thought it would be this hard to be away from him for a full week.

Liquidambar · 14/10/2013 16:34

Pjen did you have prescription for those ginger pills, or can anyone by them? Seems promising if it's all natural. I know in Portugal the majority of women take tablets for sickness which are widely prescribed. I am tempted to get a prescription this week and take the medicine back to Scotland, but at the same time I feel I need to stick to the UK system and not be in between two health systems which are totally different.

VickyVix · 14/10/2013 16:49

Well, just called docs for an appointment and they said call back when I'm 6 weeks, humph Sad

According to ov calcs I am about 4 weeks

Is that normal???

Liquidambar · 14/10/2013 16:53

Vicky I am only seeing my mw at 7/8 weeks and with DS I saw my Gp at 8 weeks. I guess it normal. Possibly they will give you an appointment around 7 or 8 weeks.

VickyVix · 14/10/2013 16:56

Thanks liquid here's hoping little bean sticks it out that long, will call them in a week or two to book an appointment :)

Liquidambar · 14/10/2013 17:10

I know it seems an eternity, Vicky. I do not have much advice on how to be patient, because I am extremely impatient Wink

MarlenaGru · 14/10/2013 17:17

It seems to differ massively. With DD they did my booking in at about 8 weeks and nobody wanted to see me until then. I called the GP today and she has referred me and said I should get an appointment from the hospital soon. Weird how it differs and I am only a few minutes from where I used to live!

CleverOl10 · 14/10/2013 17:53

Wow busy chat day! Caught up while walking dog in the rain! Welcome to the newbies.

Found out today that we have ofsted inspectors in on Wednesday and Thursday. Great (!) My head of department is on paternity leave (ironically) so I'm in charge. So not impressed. I'm pretty sure they will bring on the 6 week nausea!

NessieMcFessie · 14/10/2013 17:55

Hello all....

I feel like I have two massive weights on my chest today - really sore! Symptoms are annoying but kind of reassuring I guess. I am going to a local doctor tomorrow about my throat - was up all night and off work today - it is very uncomfortable.......

Six kids huh!? Wow - Congratulations! My B and SIL have 6.....it is chaos, but so much fun!

CleverOl10 · 14/10/2013 18:13

Vicky my booking appt isn't until I'm 9 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

GillyBillyWilly · 14/10/2013 18:36

Vicky my booking appt is wed 23rd and I will be 7+2 Smile

My 12 week scan is on 20th nov and I will be 11+2.

My doctor has given me an EDD of 3rd June (but I know my due date is more like 9th June) ... Hence my appointments are probably about a week earlier than most people would have them.

cheesysmile · 14/10/2013 18:43

Hello and congrats to the new ladies!

Glad the wedding went well Gilly, good news on the dress!

I think 6 wks must be the nausea kicking in time ... I was 6 wks Saturday and had mild nausea yesterday afternoon / evening and this morning. Eating seems to help though and started feeling better mid morning today. Will see what tomorrow brings! I'm soooo tired as well, just want to sleep all the time.

Vicky I saw the doc early but they didn't do anything and I have midwife appt for just before 8 wks. So sure 6 wks is fine.

MTMD · 14/10/2013 19:14

Hello ladies

Its really early days and i'm trying not to get too excited but I'd love to join you guys.. Had a positive test a week ago and should be around 5+1 today. If little poppy decides to stay with us, my due date should be around 15/16 June. This would be our 1st baby, we've been ttc since August Wink

CleverOl10 · 14/10/2013 19:35

Welcome MTMD and congrats on the positive.

VickyVix · 14/10/2013 20:39

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, this whole thing is new to me. I've been googling pregnancy calculators all evening!! Just so so hope this is for real, it certainly doesn't feel like it yet.

Welcome MTMD congrats on your BFP!

wispaxmas · 14/10/2013 20:53

Welcome MTMD and VickyVix! Grin. Hope your beans are super sticky ones!

MT, you're not alone as first time mum, there are a few of us.

Vicky, I don't think it's too odd for them to say call back at 6 weeks. I think these days women are finding out that they're pregnant a heck of a lot earlier than they used to, and because of that there's a heck of a lot more early miscarriages that get noted. Sadly that means most GPs and midwives will ignore you until 6-8 weeks. I saw my GP briefly at 5 weeks, but that was because I needed to be referred to the midwife before I moved to Paris (ish, it's only a few months, and I'm popping back to London every few weeks) to make sure my dates were at times I could make it. I tried calling the midwife directly and they said they don't do booking in appointments unless you're at least 8 weeks!

Anyways, like others have said, the wait for the 12 week scan is horrendous. Mine is booked for when I'm 12+3, but I decided to book a private scan for 8+3 as well.. Just want reassurance!

OP posts:
cheesysmile · 14/10/2013 22:57

Wispa what made you decide to book the private scan? Ive been thinking abt it but dh doesn't think I should. I'm thinking it wud be amazing to see the heartbeat and wud hopefully settle my nerves, but also scared that something wud b wrong. Be really interested to hear why you've decided to go for it.

blondiedollface · 14/10/2013 23:21

Our authority don't do booking in until 10 weeks and dating until at least 12 weeks last time I was dated at 13+5, so huuuuge waits down here. I haven't even gotten to the doctor to book my booking in with MW yet as I know they won't give me one until mid November or so.

Bit curious though at last AF was beginning of August and cycles have been a bit erratic since March, so I guess really anything is possible. Although at my scan on 16th Sept for PCOS nothing showed so I am thinking in the back of my mind could be ectopic or conceived post then (sorry TMI) - also that scan showed large fibroids and not sure if they will affect pg at all...

Hmm!!!

Cybercat · 15/10/2013 07:25

6 children! Wow! Your house must be so full of love.

Whispa I dont want to put anyone off a private scan but after my experience last week Im very wary. I didnt get recommendations for the place that I went - do you know anyone who has been where you are going?

I am now 6 weeks (ish) not 9 as Id thought. Have been exhausted for 2 weeks! Last night I woke 4 times or so because I was sweating, once for a wee and multiple times because DH was teeth grinding and the cat was snoring. Oh and mild nausea is kicking in. Today is going to be a loooooong day but we do have the first episode of the new Walking Dead downloaded to look forward to.

Hope you all have a good day x

Bezzabelle · 15/10/2013 08:50

Hello, been lurking for ages now, first on the sept bus and then when I got BFP on 21st Sept, came over here. Have never posted, just been reading with interest. I have a 2yo ds and now 6.5 weeks pregnant with 2nd. Can I join? Am suffering with all day sickness at the moment which is rough and feel like a terrible mother as ds spending lots of time at nanny's house as I'm so poorly. Had hg with ds too so was expecting this but it's still rough. Been signed off work and given anti sickness meds. Saw midwife yesterday for booking in appt as considered high risk in this pregnancy, anyway, look forward to being part of this supportive thread if you'll have me!
