Hi ladies, I've shared this on the Facebook Page and thought I would share it here too so no one misses out. I bought this Groupon Deal this morning - 12 issues of Mother and Baby magazine, delivered to your home for £12!!!! www.groupon.co.uk/deals/national-deal/greatmagazinescouk/25422445

Flyer747 · 14/08/2013 17:44

HotSoup dp is also addicted to his work, and apple products, any new apple gadget that comes out he has to have it. It does my head in....In a row once I threw his iPad out of the bathroom window ooops!!! ShockShock He went mad.

However he is good at pulling his weight on the buying shopping front, he does the majority, and he works hard to provide for us so I feel lucky as I know he just wants to look after me soon to be us.

DR is sending me for blood tests tomorrow, iron, glucose and thyroid and told me to take a few days off work Grin so I am of course obeying orders. They take 24 hours to come back, quite impressed. Blood Pressure was low so explains possible dizziness.

Flyer747 · 14/08/2013 17:49

Oh and Rox I think may is really nice for a middle name.

MrsO27 · 14/08/2013 17:51

My bravado nursing bras arrived today. Oh my god. They feel like (supportive) blankets of air. Thank you ladies who recommended them. Dreaded mono boob effect not too bad either, seems to give a good shape for not being under wired and they're well padded so no nipples on parade. My baby bjorn bouncer also arrived. In really good condition, just needs a clean for my peace of mind, so pleased with that too.
Can sympathise with those having work issues. Just counting down the days now myself.

claphammama · 14/08/2013 17:52

Back from MW - all good and baby definitely head down. Hope he decides to stay there this time and doesn't mess around like last night. And yes, I get these shudders whenever he changes his position - I referred to it as mini-earthquakes earlier but it feels like shudders. Measuring 29cm (I'm 30+1 today so all good). I was her last appointment and she was really rushing it... didn't ask any questions, just went through the motions. She was nice enough to me but in such a hurry. And then her phone went off - it was a 21 weeks pregnant woman with pains and really worried. She was so cold with her and really unhelpful! Told her she didn't sound like she was in a lot of pain, that it was probably just ligaments stretching and she can go to the hospital if she is concerned. I felt so sorry for this poor woman - felt like saying something! No sympathy at all

sister and hotsoup my DS is only 5 and already loves stroking his devices... Grin I frequently come back from somewhere and find both my DP and DS stroking their devices together. It's actually one of the main reasons for our arguments - DP is a technology geek and, although I work in technology, I'm skeptical about it and believe children should get it in small doses. I want DS to grow up as a multidimensional being with many other interests. I dread the teenage years...

warlin how awful about work - both your return from first maternity leave and now. And how similar to mine. I think this is how companies try to bypass the law - they can't give your role away so they create a role above you... so it's a "different" role but effectively changes your remit and your role. Rubbish.

And I think Matthew Alan goes well together. I really like Matthew but, like you, not so keen on Alan. I really don't think middle names matter though - I never use mine or DS's, other then applying for passports, schools etc... so they are more about family legacy than everyday use.

And whoever posts about our secrets on facebook or twitter... we will come and poke you with our black chin hair so beware!!!

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 14/08/2013 18:04

Well, I have cheered myself up by collecting three packs of freebies from Emma's diary - I love a good freebie Blush and I used my junk email account - and now me and the baby are sharing a strawberry McDonalds milkshake Wink.

They're full of calcium you know Grin

claphammama · 14/08/2013 18:13

DP just emailed me this link some of them are a bit naff but some quite funny. I can relate to the third one from the bottom!

roxvox · 14/08/2013 18:18

hotsoup he has his moments Smile however he's only bought it, I will be in proper shock if he cooks it too!

I've just come home from work and gone all sad and burst into tears in front of DH. He thinks it's because I want May as a middle name (which he is very against) but it's not that, I don't know what it is. I am just really sad suddenly! Bloody hormones.

Mrs027... I know re the bravado bras... Amazing aren't they?! I also find the mono boob effect not too bad (nothing like a nice underwired plunge / balcony, but not terrible), but I'm fairly small on top (32B pre preg, about 34D now).

My last day in the office tomorrow!!!! I'm not really worried about my role being taken over.. The opposite really. Due to a distinct lack of "on the ground" management in my team (partners either v part time on way to retirement or v busy and therefore out of the office 90% of the time travelling etc), I have taken on a lot and supervise quite a few more junior or less experienced people... I am seriously concerned (a) about some of the client relationships; (b) about supervision / mistakes being made by junior lawyers; and (c) who on earth is going to do all the business development / education etc etc... Not really my problem though!!

Pinkforboys · 14/08/2013 18:45

I need absolution or a good telling off....just turned my phone to silent to avoid dad of friend of DS as he'll be asking me to pick up his son from after-school/holiday club cos he's too crp to leave work on time and his wife is either on holiday work-trip somewhere glam or also working late.
I've helped out a number of times before, but DS has just got home from football club, is knackered, doesn't really like this other little boy, i've just cleared up the house, supper's in the oven and I'd have to get us all dressed (DS football strip in the wash for tomorrow) in the car and drive over to the holiday club place. AIBU or am i just a cr
p friend/neighbour...???

I think i need that McDonald's milkshake now...

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 14/08/2013 18:54

pink YADNBU!!

Some people really take the piss. Have that milkshake. My baby really enjoyed the one I had Smile

HotSoupDumpling · 14/08/2013 19:04

Pink, YA absolutely NOT BU! I'm firmly of the opinion that many very nice people ask for a bit too much (often without realising, or because they assume that we have the confidence to say no) and that you don't have to justify putting your foot down and politely ignoring calls etc if you feel up to helping out. It is also better for your friendship in the long run as you won't end up bitter about it. And there's no need to justify yourself to your friend next time you see him!

P.s. I agree with your name!

Rox, awwww! Hope you feel cheerier soon. I put my sad/moody periods down to tiredness and hormones... And a DP who is well-meaning and so darling but unfortunately NOT mind-reading!

Ooh looking forward to trying in bras in JL later this week.

HotSoupDumpling · 14/08/2013 19:05

If you DON't feel up to helping out. Meh.

MotherOfNations · 14/08/2013 19:38

Finally managed to sit down and have a read through the thread though baby brain mea s I can't ramen er much of what I've just read.
Poor Linah was in tears begging me not to leave her in school this morning. She was so excited this morning too. It was just all to much when it came to it. She seemed happy enough when I picked her up and was happy that she got to play with her older cousin at playtime and saw her big sister. Ny older daughter enjoyed her first day at high school though.

Just to clarify My mum had 7 pregnancies and 8 children. (Baby brain again) one if ththose was a still birth and another was list to cot death at 6 months.

I'm another one not feeling great today. I've sow t the day rushing to the loo. I was worrying that it n
may be a sign of impending labour but Do cane ho e from work complaining of the same so hopefully just a bug.

MotherOfNations · 14/08/2013 19:39

Sorry for all the typos.

PseudoBadger · 14/08/2013 19:40

I've also spent the evening so far with the runs and a headache. Maybe there's something going around the thread?
And one of the buggery dogs ate a whole packet of butter and has just puked up a load of rancid fatty vomit

MotherOfNations · 14/08/2013 19:42

Just posted here and checked fb to find Dp had updated my status with " Just had a big dump. My God, I thought I was giving birth". Very mature.

MotherOfNations · 14/08/2013 19:47

Euuugh Pseudo I think I would have been sick along with the dog. I nearly threw up yesterday when Dp was in the kitchen making cheesy pasta using one of those cheap and nasty boxes that smells like vomit.
Macaroni cheese isn't hard to make from s ratch so why anyone would choose to eat that is beyond me.

Natalieand · 14/08/2013 19:47

I literally HATE myself right now HATE HATE HATE!

Dh got a text and I thought it would be an idea to read it, as it was from my mum!!

It was asking him if a date was suitable for my 'surprise' now not a suprise baby shower!

Ugh I hate myself for reading the text I've ruined it for myself!!!!

Natalieand · 14/08/2013 19:50

Glad the girls enjoyed their first day at school MoN and your little one too falcon how emotional I am dreading that day but looking forward to it at the same time!

Glad today's appts went well too x

Went and had a look round kiddicare today didn't buy much really just a cellular blanket, some shopping clips for the buggy to carry my shopping lol. And got conned into buying dd a Disney princess doll in toys r us. Xx

Shirehobbit · 14/08/2013 19:52

Oh no, Natalie! Shock
Of course you're upset with yourself, and you can't unsee it, I'm afraid.
But how lovely that they are planning it for you.
Time to practise your really surprised face?

As for gross dogs - mine rolled in a pile of fox poo this morning (Chanel No 5 for dogs, btw). Scrubbed him through the wretches. Little sod.

JellyCurls · 14/08/2013 19:52

MoN my DH hacks my Facebook account all the time, usually posting on his wall asking for some sexy time - so grown up!

Just back from A&E with DD, she had an argument with the back door and split her head open. 1" gash glued with no tears followed by a pub tea as couldn't face cooking. Spent more time explaining to doctors about her condition than we did getting examined and glued back together. What a day!

2 more days of work, can't be over soon enough

ananikifo · 14/08/2013 20:10

clapham sorry if I ruined your dinner last night. I have no filter sometimes. Blush

Last night I brought up home birth again and DH was not keen, so I sent him a link to the NCT home birth page, and I gave him my copy of Stand and Deliver. Today he told me he had phoned his friend who's a paediatric registrar (who he always phones for advice) and she reassured him so he's now really supportive. I'm so glad to have him on my side because when I've spoken to a few of my friends and colleagues about it they haven't exactly been positive about it.

I am working until 28 September. Is anyone else working that late? It sounds like everyone else here is counting down or already on mat leave. I have more than a month left so everything feels so far away!

Flyer747 · 14/08/2013 20:11

Oh no Jelly hope dd is fine she sounds like a brave little girl.

Natalie I say to you what dp says to me "If you go snooping then you'll spoil the surprise" when I go hunting for my Xmas presents Grin

For those with the trots my mum has it too, she says a bug is doing the rounds....she was less fortunate and it started when she and my dad were out on Sunday afternoon, they headed home but got stuck in a crash on the M6 I'm sure you can imagine what happened next Shock
