A link to the first thread is here.

This first trimester will end eventually... it will, it will!!! Grin

Littlemisssnowshine

Hope it works. Are you getting enough water? A friend got v dehydrated before the GP clocked on.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 22/01/2013 16:49

blonde, at this stage your baby has just a 'nub' which will either stay proud & penis-y or shrivel up (not technical term!) to become her girly bits.
The earliest you can get a private dating scan is 16(?) weeks or around abouts then because that's when it's more likely to be obvious, although they can still be wrong!
Stainslas is lovely! We have a 9 letter long surname & DS has a long first name (another 9 letters) but it can work! Only thing to worry about is it is too many letters to fit on a credit card?
Gerard is nice but I'd worry about people thinking you're a Steven Gerrard/Liverpool fan.

I'm so convinced this one is a girl that we're calling it 'her' atm & haven't looked at boys names.

Jollymummy2 · 22/01/2013 16:53

Me and DH have talked names, but I'm just not sure. He is very into Nathaniel, which is fine, but I just can't imagine having a Nathaniel! DH also likes Katherine which again I really like, just can't imagine having a baby Katherine!
Choosing a name feels such a huge responsibility, and with a head full of hormonal mush im not sure i can cope Shock

RugBugs · 22/01/2013 17:22

Gary I know the wife of one of the coaching staff at LFC and they have a Gerrard Grin

Also convinced it's a girl for some odd reason, i've said she without thinking and have an aversion to looking at boys things. This could just be habit though, I won't be finding out and plan to take two going home outfits into hospital with me (I shall go raiding the mamas & papas outlet in cheshire oaks for these!).

FoofFighter · 22/01/2013 17:39

Nothing wrong with people thinking you are a Kopite Wink

I like Sophie for a girl. Middle name will be a family name.

I actually can't think of boy's names. I used the ones I liked already on DS!

FoofFighter · 22/01/2013 17:39

oh have you checked out the new Joules baby clothes range? it's right up my street :) I predict lots of orders Blush

ScubaSarah · 22/01/2013 18:01

Woah, busy afternoon at work and return to busy thread Grin
Lovely names, I love Sophie Foof! Most of the names I love DH doesn't and vice versa. Boys we like Joshua and Reuben and Girls Abigail Rose - I wonder if we need a reserve in mind in case they don't suit the names when we see him/her at last?!?
Gary is it superstition or cos you wonder if they will suit a different name when you see them? I had kinda been thinking knowing the name and calling it xxx rather than bean or sproglet (my current favourite much to DH's chagrin) might help bonding? Hmm unsure it is wise now...

Littlemiss great news on the anti-nausea meds!!
Ruck hope yours improves - rushing between buildings to upchuck does not sound like the funnest thing to put up with at work!

Thanks for the link Foof

blondecat · 22/01/2013 18:01

Gary

Footballers! Must they spoil everything? It's DH's grand father's name

LittleMissSnowShine · 22/01/2013 18:08

Love all the name chat!

blonde - my dad is gerard tho not pronounced like steven gerrard but more like one syllable, to rhyme with heard. It's also one of DS's middle names so it's a thumbs up from me hee Grin

Briarrosy · 22/01/2013 18:16

Got my bloods/full NT results back today, was worried as my initial risk was 1:100 (had a chromosomal abnormality before), and now they're 1:9821 Grin

Time to tell everyone. I just can't bring myself to tell my poor boss though! He had to tell us on friday that one of our team of 3 is leaving next month which is going to be difficult for him, and now me. I'm so inconsiderate Wink.

ScubaSarah · 22/01/2013 18:22

Briar that's brilliant news. Good luck telling people - and your boss. Telling him sooner gives him time to work out a plan for cover...

Nightwish · 22/01/2013 18:26

Scan was interesting today.
I am now dreading being able to feel this bean move, as the lady was trying to get a photo for us it kicked out against the sack and propelled its self up like an extreme sportsperson. I did have to laugh though.
Everything seemed fine.
Waiting for the bloods result for the overall result but I am not worried really.

Have been put back 3 days though so now due on the 7th August.
Will try to find the stats thread and change it on there.
20 week scan booked for the 21st March.

DS likes the scan photo and has decided he will teach the baby to skateboard. Grin

Hope you are all well!

Briarrosy · 22/01/2013 18:28

Nightwish, Grin

blondecat · 22/01/2013 18:43

Briarrosy, fantastic news. Hopefully mine will be the same tomorrow

Go Gerards!

blondecat · 22/01/2013 18:43

Nightwish, another good one Grin

Christelle2207 · 22/01/2013 18:56

Well done on all scans. Ours is Friday. Name talk is fun, we like Isla for a girl but no clue about boys, annoying given that we are convinced bean is a boy. Although I was previously against finding out I'm now thinking I might prefer to know, so that we don't have to carry on arguing about boys names unless it really is necessary iyswim.

DaveMccave · 22/01/2013 19:13

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL for a few weeks, I was struck down with extreme MS. It's pretty much gone now though, I'm about 10-11 weeks, I'm a bit worried its too early for it to go, but perhaps one of my many remedies is doing the trick. Sea bands have worked the best if that helps anyone. Got to wait another 2 weeks for scan, but I have found HB on doppler :) so fx everything's ok.

Lots of you worried about screening. Anyone else declined all tests?

I admit to having started shopping... Bought a few baby grows and cloth nappies.

rugbug and foof Cheshire oaks and LFC fan, I wonder if you are local to me? Wirral/merseyside?

JollyRedGiant · 22/01/2013 19:18

Last time, we were convinced that bump was a girl. We settled on a boy name by about 15 weeks but didn't get a girl one we both liked until about 34 weeks. DS was a boy and the name we had chosen was perfect. I've had loads of positive comments about it :)

This time dh still likes our girl name from last time. I have gone off it but can't think of anything better. We have about 5 boy names we'd be happy with!

Hope things look up soon for those of you that have unsettling scan results and those with family issues.

Still no news on scan date here. MW tomorrow.

Have started crocheting a blanket for bump :) Too tired to do much else in the evenings at the mo.

Kty77 · 22/01/2013 19:21

Hi davemccave, just to let you know I was 9.5 weeks with my first when I was completely clear of illness, tiredness and feeling sick and by 12 weeks felt better than I ever have before so I would try not to worry, I think 12 weeks is just an average! I really hope mw uses Doppler next week but (can't remember) a few people say they won't until 16 weeks?? Really want that reassurance?

LittleMissSnowShine · 22/01/2013 19:22

Good news briar and congrats on the great scan nightwish!

Ours is on Fri to Christelle Grin

I was sure I could feel the bean moving last night, only 11+2 so it's v early and I def couldn't feel DS moving until much closer to 20 weeks but I really felt something kind of roll inside me and cos I was lying down just watching tv with my hand on my tummy I could have sworn I felt the skin under my hand move. It was weird! But it def didn't feel like me moving iykwim? So if that's the case and this one can make itself felt at 11 weeks i think there could be a strong kicker in there too!

DaveMccave · 22/01/2013 19:28

Thanks kty I was much less severe with my dd, but it def hadnt gone this early. Strange. My friend who lent me the sea bands swears its them... I'm too scared to take them off and check! I do find If I'm a bit retchy that they have slipped out of place though. I bought the doppler for a tenner second hand. It's just a cheapy angel sounds one, think they are about 20 quid on amazon? It's v hard to find though at this stage, I've only found it twice after much fruitless searching!

JollyRedGiant · 22/01/2013 19:32

I'm so tempted to try the Doppler. But I don't want dh to think I'm a mad woman. And I don't want to do it without him there. So I'm just going to wait!

DaveMccave · 22/01/2013 19:37

jolly I thought that. What I did was tried it when he was away, and when I found it I recorded it and emailed it to him and made him guess what it was. He wanted to try it out as soon as he was back the next day. (But we couldn't find it then). I do worry about there being any distress to the baby though if I were to use it a lot, but I think if everything ok at the scan I'll not feel the need to use it.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 22/01/2013 19:46

Great news Briar, glad you had a good scan nightwish!

Jolly & Kty, I've been using the doppler loads the last two weeks (am 11+4), aim low & don't mistake your pulse for a slow hb & panic yourself....twice. Feckin eejit that I am!
Just learning to knit atm, hoping to move onto crochet & be able to make lovely baby stuff!

Snowshine, with DS I felt it at 14 weeks, looking around the internet, it can be flutters but most people seem to think it's gas.The spoilsports!

Scuba, it's superstition. I'm one of those people who won't have anything baby related in the house until I have a baby.
We named DS Foetussa when he was still womb-trapped, and for the first few months I continued to call him that instead of his name Blush
Also, if you settle on Bob, buy personalised stuff & then decide when he arrives he's more of a Fred you're stuck!

I'm South Liverpool Dave but only lived up here three years. I'm envious if your one to one care, I'm under a hypertension consultant at the women's and community mw.
