Godzilla you poor thing. I've always hated anything invasive so I know how you feel.
I feel crap. So tired now after the last two months of insomnia. Hips hurt at night. Feel sick when I stand up. Now 40+5 and to be honest would just like a c section and it to all be over/something positive to happen. Thought of being induced is horrible. Plus I need to help plan my Granny's funeral and we can't because I don't know when I'm having this baby!

You poor thing - you have my total sympathy and condolences. I'm sure it's of little consolation but i'm glad we all have each other on here for support and to cheer each other up.

I am sat on birthing ball with small (ish) glass of wine just trying to calm myself down and stop blubbing - feel like a right idiot actually

godz GRRRRR to that midwife. Just cos she couldn't do any internal without hurting you, does not mean you can't have a natural birth.

Hi all,

Well baby Zachary James was born on Friday 11th Jan at 0149 by emergency section. Was in induced labour for 14 hrs but I failed to progress past 5cm and Zach's heart rate kept dropping so at midnight on Thurs they decided to section me. He is perfect! 7lb 11oz, on formula as his blood sugars were low when born, I'm doing fine, bit sore but sooooo happy!

Hope everyone else is doing okay. Have also posted this on new baby thread!

Hey *woody' me too, feels like constant outward pressure on pubic bone. Not so inspired for those long walks now. Can't wait til little one arrives. Looks like it will be au natural or straight out C section for me. Given previous CS, they don't want to induce that could cause uterine rupture. Sigh. So tired of waiting.

Octane so sorry to hear your news, that's so sad. I hope you're doing ok.

Godzookey that sounds horrible you poor thing. I don't think that was at all a helpful or accurate thing for the midwife to say, I'm sure you can't tell how it's going to be for you until it happens. Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Woody those calls and texts would be driving me mad. I haven't actually told anyone in real life what my due date is in the hope of avoiding that. But not sure it's going to work!

Octane - so sorry to hear about the loss of your Granny.

Godzookey - sorry your sweep didn't go well. I have no idea if sweep pain is related to birth pain but it might be worth asking on MN to see if anyone who has experience of this can restore your confidence? I had sweep no.2 on Saturday and although things were looking reasonably favourable, this time she couldn't reach anything at all! DP was with me this time and I am wondering if it was harder to relax with him cracking jokes like a buffoon sat in the corner of the room

I am not due til this friday but already have reached that point where I can't imagine things kicking off naturally I think this is partly because I have an induction booked for next monday and really feeling the pressure now. Have got an acupuncture session tomorrow so lets see how that goes.

Godzooky - sorry you had such a lousy experience, your midwife wasn't very good maybe? She should be able to do that kind of thing more carefully and be able to help you relax. Discomfort during an internal doesn't have anything to do with tolerance of labour pain. As it's your first there will be less space for examinations than for someone whose had a baby before.

Octane - sorry to hear about your Granny. It's really sad she won't see your baby.

Congratulations to everyone whose had their baby since I last posted. There are some lovely names on our list!

I am due on Friday too but all of my babies have been born before 40 weeks. At the moment it feels like the baby will never come and I'm a bit despondent. I guess that could all change quickly.

Who's looking forward to not being pregnant any more!

Godzookey don't worry about it, I had a v painful internal last week, don't think it's related to the amount of pain at the birth, just the skill / anger levels of the midwife. What a horrible thing to say to you as well.

Godz I agree with what others have said about the skill of the midwife having a lot to do with the pain of an internal and nothing to do with your tolerance. I've had smears where I don't even know the nurse/doctor is there and others that have made me very tense and actually cry. Hope you're ok now.

Went to see Les Mis yesterday afternoon and think all the blubbing gave me contractions! Had some sharp pains and then some tightenings that seemed to last for ages (and really hurt) and then it all just petered out to nothing... got quite excited there for a moment. Judging by the shape of my bump I think baby is back to back again so I'll be spending much of today on all fours.

godz just wanted to second what ever else said, for me the worst bits of labour were when people did things to me, the contractions themselves were fine. I had steroid injections at the start and nearly cried, and was terrified that meant I wouldn't be able to handle the actual birth, but in the end I found the injections to be the most painful part.

I had a few internals done by different people and only one of them was painful so I'd put it down to poor technique

Another birth announcement!

Baby Jacob was born on fri 11th jan at 11:36am via ELCS at 37 weeks gestation weighing a whopping 8lb 13! I also had 3 litres of amniotic fluid so I feel like a different person now all that's out of me!

Jacob is doing really well after initially scaring us with low oxygen and blood sugars little monkey. He's just perfect.

Congratulations to all the new mums on here and good luck to all those waiting to meet their gorgeous babies. It's still just as amazing the 2nd time round.

I thought last night was going to be "the night" I had very strong regular contractions (which must have just been BH) as all stopped after 3/4 hours and this morning I just feel normal again

i'm not sure what's going on, getting some irregular pains but am also quite constipated so not sure if that might be the cause. I'm tidying the house at the same time so if it is the real thing we don't bring the baby home to a tip!

Congratulations Meringue and Pip. Looks like we have some impatient babies making early arrivals! Wish Baby Woody felt the same!
