Hello....I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have heard you can swim for free at the Quays...does anyone know how this works?

No idea, but it'd be worth the £8 on the train and wander round Ikea for me if so!

You just need to take your pregnancy notes in with you and they give you a card - that's all there is to it!

Thanks vixo...so you can just swim anytime then? Not a specific session or time of day?
Thanks for your reply.

Wish I'd known this earlier am due in 10 days but only live down the road from the quays!!

On a complete tangent, WTW, there's a couple of us having a woolly meet in JL yarn dept at 11:30 if you fancy it!

Whatevertheweather · 06/08/2012 18:43

Ah only just seen this Pidj! Hope you had fun x

Twas lovely, Pistey and I spent 4 hours drinking coffee in the cafe! We're having another in a few weeks when I've finished MrsY's blanket if you fancy joining us :o

Pudz - I'm pretty sure it's any time. I've definitely used it at the weekends and during the week and they didn't mention any restrictions when I got the card. I've also used it when we have taken our children swimming so they don't limit it to times when you're only swimming for your own fitness, if that makes sense!

Whatever - I think they've given me a week or two extra after my due date so you could still get a few swims in, especially if the baby isn't prompt!

I wonder if i can get a card for my nearest LA pool? (also Hants)

Pudz808 · 08/08/2012 16:55

Good luck WTW....hope all goes well for you.
Thanks vixo...that's great...I'm going to give it a try this week...ease my poor old limbs from all this weight...hope they don't mistake me for a beached whale...lol.
Purplepidjin....I've only seen posters for the quays in St.Annes and online but might be worth a try...I think other pools do offer this but it's not well advertised. Hope your wooly meet went well...are you knitting or crocheting? I'm on my third crochet blanket now.

It's not, it must be a Southampton City thing Sad

We were crocheting for the Mumsnet Blankets, I've just started construction on the one for MrsY, and squares are coming in for Expat, Giraffes and Mumof. We're now collecting for 3girlies and I can post a thread link if you'd like to be involved (these are blankets for posters who have been bereaved, so some content may be a trigger) Thanks

In Birmingham they have the BActive scheme? I don't know where else they do it. you just need a couple of recent bills with address on. Take it to your local council run leisure centre and sign up for a card. there's normally specific times of the day different to each place that you can get in for free!!!
