Hi everybod.

i'm Caitlin, 29, due on 23rd jan - day after my mums birthday.

this is third in 3 years, and in total - ds 1 is 2.5 and ds2 is 1.5. am a sucker for punishment so am having ds3 (had a scan this time to find out, didnt last 2 times and wouldnt again i think) quite soon.

last 2 were peaceful, quick, straightforward births in water, no tearing or stitches. ds1 was 7lb10 and ds2 was a 9lb2 monster (actually, think i did tear a little with no2, but he was born in about 3 seconds - had an 83 minute labour start to finish! - so no wonder really.)

hoping for the same sort of thing this time - have rented an all singing and dancing birth pool to have him at home as think it would be madness to get in a car if i labour that fast, which arrived yesterday actually. kind of makes the imminence (?) a bit real!

have had a bit of a brush with SPD this time round but am sooooo lucky am able to hire a nanny so i can take it easy for last stage and am coping pretty well with it (think Arnica might be a bit of a miracle cure, for me anyway)

sorry to go on, but i dont really know anyone else with babies, so glad to have recently discovered MN.

anyways - good luck all and fingers crossed for healthy happy mums and babies all round

I found out about Mumsnet beginning of December, posted one message in the Dec chat thread (?Due Jan 06 - Looks like we've eaten loads of Christmas puddings?) but then didn?t manage to keep up to date with all the posts there as I was still working. I?ll see if I can manage better until baby arrives and even after.

Dad2be is English, from Indian Gujarati background.
We live in London (Chiswick W4).
We are expecting our first child.
Expected Date of Birth: 08/01/2006.
Hoping for a waterbirth.
Planning to use real nappies (and already happy to promote it !)
Very interested in multilingual education.
Have been working until Christmas then took a few days as holidays and I am now starting maternity leave hopefully for 6 months. After that, I would like to return to work, preferably part-time, but depend how this can be managed with employer and nursery.
