Hurray, my lovely DS has arrived!
Started having very mild contractions early on Thursday morning, but as was induced last time wasn't convinced it was labour!
Started to pick up a bit that evening so packed DD off to Granny's house. Sent DH to bed to get some rest and woke him about 3am to take me to the hospital as contractions were getting strong and lasting over a minute, every 4 minutes.
Turned up at local m/w unit to find they had no beds so had to drive 40 minutes to the next m/w unit. Was pleased to find I was already 6cm when we arrived (had been betting in the car with DH and he thought I'd be 3-4cm, hah!)
Spent a looooooong 40 minutes on the monitor to make sure baby was OK before being allowed in the pool about 5:30am. Unfortunately gas and air didn't work for me so reverted to clinging to DH's arm and accidentally biting him occasionally, brave man!
Started pushing about 6:30 and DS arrived at 7am on the dot, weighing a rather healthy 8lb 13 (ouch).
Had a job getting the placenta out, took almost an hour and half to deliver that afterwards. Was very funny as the m/w took it off to show all her colleagues as it was so big (over 1kg, felt like a second bloomin' baby...)! But am very, very lucky to have no stitches and only a tiny tear.
Was kept in till almost 7pm as they were worried about possibility of haemorrhage after such a big baby and placenta but got home at 8pm with a very tired toddler and a brand new DS.
Sorry for rambling on
