Seth Downey hurtled into this world on Monday 4th April 2005 at 9.20am, weighing 7lbs 1oz and this is his story....
Mummy was woken on Monday morning at 1.50am with a couple of strong contractions 10 minutes apart. By 2.40 the contractions were coming every three minutes and Daddy decided to phone for reinforcements. Just half an hour later, our two wonderful midwives were drinking tea in the lounge and mummy's sister had arrived to look after my big sister.
By 4am, the contractions were still fairly easy to cope with according to Mummy. Then as fast as they had come, they suddenly slowed down. When they hit an all time low of just 4 in an hour, everyone went back to bed! Mummy was panicking that she'd have to go into hospital and couldn't sleep whilst Daddy was the epitome of calm ... I, in the meantime, was doing just fine.
At 7.20 I decided I was ready to put in an appearance after all and the contractions picked up again. At 8am, mummy got into the birth pool, and at 9.20am I was born (in one contraction) under water. I was scooped up by Annie, the midwife, and handed to one very happy Mummy. Daddy cut the chord and I nuzzled in for my first feed. I had arrived.....
Well, it's now two days later and my big sister and parents are still smitten. We're babymooning at the moment but we will be back checking on mumsnet from time to time to see when my fellow april playmates arrive...
