When did you tell your child?

Pretty much what the title says. When did you tell your child you were pregnant? For background I am just over 10 weeks and have a 4 year old. I'm a little worried that DC's life is going to massively change. I want him to be prepared as best as can be for his age and aware that a baby is coming. I also think that 9 months is a super long wait for anyone never mind someone young. Curious to what others have done & how they told them 😊

It's super long. I started talking about it at 30 weeks with my two year old. With a four year old I'd wait until the twenty week scan at least. Mention it and then not make a big deal of it until much later.

Told my 4 year old after 12 week scan
He wasn't too bothered, and certainly didn't think about it all the time until baby arrived!
Kids take these things in their stride

I told mine at 20 weeks when we’d found out the sex etc

We told ours after 12 weeks scan, purely because adults would start noticing if they weren't told anyway and I didn't want adults to know and not my child. Yes it's a long time but it also is t the centre of their world so there's times when they're feeling quite impatient about it all and times when they have very little interest in thinking about it. My four year old likes to read the weekly updates on my phone with me every monday
