Well, after waiting a full 2 weeks past my due date and trying just about every labour-inducing trick in the book, the last stage of induction finally brought us our little pink bundle - Elizabeth Bronwen, at 5.20am on Thursday 16th. She is absolutely gorgeous, and already a daddy's girl - much to DH's delight.
Labour itself was tough to say the least - I was started off on Monday night, 18 hours of strong contractions which then stopped when the prostin wore off. Then had waters broken, then finally had to have the drip, and found out I would not be able to have an epidural or any assisted delivery as I have shockingly low platelets (to do wtih how your blood clots). I was eventually getting set up for a cesaerean under general anesthetic and suddenly it all kicked off and I went from 3cm to 10 in about half an hour - my behaviour apparently signalled things had moved on (poor DH ). And then a little pink bundle arrived - the biggest surprise of the whole event. Just got back from hospital tonight and we are settling very well into family life.
