Very early arrival of my son!

Announcing the early arrival of my son Lewis who was born 8 weeks early by emergency c-section on 11th February in Amsterdam. He weighed in at 5lb 2oz (2.340kg) and looks very adorable.

Lewis is being cared for in the special care baby unit but is making good progress. I was sent home exactly a week after my operation and I seem to be healing well too.

Congratulations - hope Lewis is home with you very soon.

Congratulations on your early arrival. 5lbs 2oz is a great weight for 8 weeks early - all four of my sons have been around that weight and they arrived later than your little lad.

Early June my very first grandbaby is due to be born and he will be called Lewis Daniel - so I love the name Lewis. Are you originally from England or Amsterdam?

How exciting, but how stressful for you, him being in SCBU. Remember to be kind to yourself. DS was 4.13 and is now a strapping 6 year old. Hope your DS isn't there too long and is home with you soon.

I have type 1 diabetes which is probably why Lewis was so big when he was born. One of the few things to thank my diabetes for!

I am originally from Scotland but live in Amsterdam just now - will be here for 4 years in total.

SCBU is stressful and the travelling to and from the hospital is so tiring. But he is soooo worth it!
