How much sooner did your 2nd baby arrive?

Just for a bit of fun😊 my first arrived at 40+6. Labour from first contraction to delivery was nearly 32 hours. I arrived at hospital at 5cm dilated and he was born 2.5 hours later. My second is due in July. When did your second baby make their appearance and was your labour much quicker?😊

Dc1- started labour on the Friday morning with my waters going, intense beyond painful contractions until he was born on Sunday morning on the due date.

Dc2- due date, woke up at 2am with contractions back to back from the first one, 2 hours later (after 30 mins drive to the hospital) baby was born within 30 mins of getting to the hospital.
Luckily we left for the hospital as I was trying to time my contractions, but there was no pause in-between for me to try and even time them so I insisted we leave straight away for the hospital (against the advice of the midwife on the phone who said even though they were back to back that because they had only just started I would be hours and hours away from labour)
When I arrived at the hospital I was checked and was only 4cm dilated, I was also scolded by the midwife doing the check as she didn't believe I wasn't having gaps between contractions, however literally 5 mins after this I was pushing without knowing that I was, 2 pushes baby was born.
So it progressed extremely quickly - in total it was literally 2 hours from first contraction until baby was born. If I hadn't had ignored the midwife and listened to my own instincts baby would have been born at home or at the side of the road.

First labour 41 weeks. Took 36 hours
2nd labour 40+6 7 hours
3rd 40 weeks (and 1 hour 14 mins over ) 20 hours
4th labour 41+3 slow labour all week but when it finally decided to do something 12 hours from when contractions stopped "stopping for a few hours" dd3 is still the most stubborn of all her siblings 🙄

2nd labour is my "I want to do that again" moment in life. Amazing experience

Titsywoo · 13/07/2023 20:14

First labour from waters breaking to birth - 34 hours (18 hours of contractions)
