Nayasha Rura was born on at 12.42am on February 5th 2008, weighing a neat little 6lb!
I will try and make this one short, so here goes...
I started to labour at about 4 in the afternoon on the monday - it's funny that they say that most woman don't start until other things get done first, I had just finished doing all the washing, got in a full weeks worth of shopping, packed a few last minute things for hospital, cleaned the house, saw my best friend in town (who I hadn't seen in ages) and picked my son up from school! Then it started right after doing all that!
As the labour progressed, I started to feel hellishly sick and had to stay in the bathroom counting contractions and leaning over the toilet bowl at the same time! Horrible! Anyway as it got to about the 10pm the contractions were close enough together to make our way to the hospital,(half an hour away -longest and weirdest half an hour of my life!).
Got to the hospital and the midwife examined me - no more than 1-2 and a half cm dialated she said, so she monitored the babys heartbeat and found it dropped a lot with each contraction - so the doc' came and had a look and said c-section as she wasn't happy with it. My son was delivered by cs so I was half expecting it, and judging by what the doc' was saying it sounded quite worrying and I just wanted my baby out after hearing her concerns.
So, my GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL little girl was born very luckily safe and sound.
(She was covered in poo though! - something my babies seem to do, my son was the same!)
It was a little worrying not to hear her cry at first, because she had to be suctioned - they told us she was alright but I had never wished to hear a baby cry so much in my life!
It was only after when I was being stitched up that the doc' said it could have been disasterous if I had not come to the hospital when I did, as my previous cs scar was about to rupture.
I have recovered incredibly well though, and I discharged myself a day early out of hospital making my stay just 2 and a half days! And I have spent the time from the moment she was born on top of the world! I felt an instant rush of love - something I didn't feel with my son, was probably too traumatised by the birth which later developed into postnatal depression, (hence the big age gap, was put off for years) so it's just been wonderful to have a totally different experience of birth and early days with a newborn. Now I'm so happy I could cry!
Well, I tried to make it a short one - easier said than done! I might post a picture or two if I can work out how to do it, so watch this space!xxx

Congratulations!!! Scary (sounds as though it was a bit at times too).

What a lovely name - Nayasha Rura is.

It's amazing how different two births can be isn't it?
