Just to let you all know baby Martha Neve arrived at 6.55 pm on Friday 18th Jan.
She is 6lb 1oz so a little dot !
I had to have induction so home / waterbirth never happened and pool still in box.
However induction was million times better than expected.
Id had first lot of gel at 11.ooam then contractions came every two min after that gradually got worse and i went into delivery at 5.30. I then asked for pain relief at 6.30 at which point i was much too late as she was born 25 min later after 3 pushes!
Thanks for all well wishes and support from those r/e induction.
xx LL

Well now i am feeling a little more normal i thought i would post my birth story in case anyone wants to read it!
As you all know Martha was 40 + 13 days when i went into hospital to be induced. After going through a nightmare induction with ds i really didn't want this but was ready to meet lo.
I got to hospital at 8.30 to find that they were short staffed and there were 3 ladies all waiting to be induced.
I thought i may get sent home but the doctor decided to give me a lot of gel anyway despite there being only 1 midwife on the whole ward
Anyway after this at 11.00am contractions started immediately every 2 minutes. However they built up slowly and i managed to get through the day wandering around the room and trying to read. I was determined to keep moving about and try and be mobile.
At about 4.30 the pains were getting stronger and i asked dp to let the midwife know.
However there was another lady who was very upset and agitated and she wasn't coping at all so the midwife was busy with her trying to get her down to delivery.
At 5.00 i knew that i needed to get down ot delivery soon so i sent dp looking for a midwife. He came back saying it was like the Marie Celeste! He had managed to find a doctor who said he would tell the midwife
At this point i was getting very uncomfortable. At 5.30 the poor midwife came in and said she would examine me then they wereclosing the ward due to staffing and i would have to move to another ward.
She examined me and said i was 5 cm from previous birth with dd i said i think i should go to delivery. She then said hold on i think your only 1-2! I could have cried at this point.
So i collected all my things and we made our way inthe lift down to another ward. The midwife then said to me 'i don't think this baby will arrive tonight'
She then got a call saying the ward was full and i had to go to delivery. Once there she put me in a 1st stage room and left me to get settled. Dp then said he would go and get some tea. I was then having contractions on my own in this room every minute and they were really strong. I then really lost all faith at this point and got quite upset with visions of labouring all night and another nightmare induction. Dp came back about 6.20 and was obviously concerned at my state so went to speak to a midwife about pain relief.
The midwife {the same one who had been on duty all day on her own arrived} with two co adomal and plans to put me on the monitor. However at that point my waters broke, whilst i still had my clothes on! She took one look at me and i knew baby would be arriving any time.
Dp asked if we would move to the delivery room and she said no we are having this baby here! They tried to help me on the bed with much difficulty then she went to get help.
However she returned on her own {there was no one to assist} with a trolley with a towel , some cotton wool and scissors.
At this point dp was great and two pushes her head was out, then it seemed a minute for another contraction where i pushed her body out.
This was followed by shock and relief by everyone!
Luckily i didn't realise they had little instruments and thankfully everything went well, however it makes me sure that home birthing would have been so much better. However she is here now and she is lovely and that's the main thing
Sory for the long post but it's quite cathartic to get it all down!
