Well he was 8 days late though.

After being totally peed off with the fact that my sweep had been cancelled on Wednesday, the Mw came out yesterday morning first thing and told me that I wasnt very favourable for going into labour soon and we arranged induction.

Well I started getting pains straight after but nothing regular so I didnt get my hopes up.
I went to town mid afternoon to get fabric to finish off dd's doll, came home and then decided it might be a good idea to call the labour ward just to ask for some advice about what to do since I was having a home birth. I was told to have some paracetamol and a bath and call back if things got worse.
This was at 4pm, then no sooner as I had put the phone down the pains just went bang to 4 mins apart and getting strong. So I called back again and they said they would send out the MW but she was an hour away and if I needed someone else to call back again.
5 mins later I started making some impressive noises and dh looked a bit worried so called them back and they got the 2nd MW on her way.
5:15pm the first MW arrived followed by the other about 15 mins later.
By then my contractions were on top of each other.
Next thing I knew the MW's were telling me babys head was there and he shot out like a bullet at 18:31!!!

So all in all a 2 and a half hour labour, no stitches and I feel fab. Home births are the best!

We have called him Ethan James and he weighed 8lb 1oz

welcome, Ethan James, you have a lovely name, little man

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 10/12/2007 12:31

Thank you everyone

He is an absolute angel. Such a contented sole.

Really struggling with feeding now my milks come in and he's feeding every 2 hours and sometimes more, so its a bit hard at the minute.

But to answer spidermama, Home births are great.
Its just lovely having the things you know around you and having that comfort feeling.
With both dd and ds, they both showed signs of distress during labour. This time we had none of it and I'm sure its down to the fact that I wasnt anxious about where I was and that I was comfortable, well as can be expected when your giving birth

I'd recommend HB's to anyone.
