A beautiful daughter for Mrs Jetson!!

JEMIMA LOUISE EMILIE was born at 00.24 on Monday 12th November. She weighed 8.6 1/2lbs.

She was 4 days late but worth it!

I started to have contractions in Waitrose on Saturday afternoon, they were becoming quite strong so we called the hospital who told us to get there as soon as we could as baby number 3 had been very quick. We arrived at about 9pm, sent straight to the delivery unit hooked up to a monitor .....and everything stopped although Jemima's heartbeat was way too high, because she was still trying to do somersaults, so they kept me (and DH) in just in case it all started again.

10am Sunday we left the hospital feeling rather disappointed. We arrived home to 3 very excited children expecting to see their little sister. Didn't we feel awful!! After a quick shower and change we ended up at Mothercare to get a few bits and pieces, I was convinced I HAD to have a new playmat for the baby! In between my daughter, aged 2, stripping and jumping into the made up cots, my contractions started again - this time every 8 minutes, and lasting for a bloody long time. I must have looked a right state walking through the shop....

As we returned home I had an urgent desire to clean the bathrooms - God knows why!

By 8.30pm DH said he thought we'd best call the hospital as his shoulders couldn't take much more kicking - he was sitting on the floor in front of me!! I had no idea they were becoming that regular or painful. 10 minutes later we were in the car on the way to the hospital (45 miuntes away) with contractions every 4 minutes and rather painful to say the least. The other added part was that Jemima's head was really bouncing around in my pelvis - I think more painful than contractions!

We had to wait for about an hour for a bed to be ready as babies were popping out all over the place!! Just as we got into a prepared room I collapsed on the bed demanding an epidural as I was only 5cms. The lovely lovely midwife said "really?", "yes" I replied "this gas and air is useless, and I feel really drunk, and you look like my friend, do you know my friend she's lovely like you". At this point DH and lovely MW are talking amongst themselves laughing at me - in the nicest possible way of course! MW went out to book the epidural at which point my waters broke. With 35 minutes pushing and a hell of a lot of G & A out popped Jemima!!! I was in the room for 50 minutes!

We arrived home that afternoon. Jemima is absolutely wonderful and the spitting image of her big sister, both of her big brothers adore her and we are now a very complete family!
