Well, the best laid plans... 15 days late and with more medical procedures that you could shake a stick at (so much for au naturelle!!)... Eran Joseph arrived by emergency c-section at 2.09am on Monday 25th October weighing... (wait for it)... 10lb 5oz...!!

The gory details:
Went in on Saturday for induction. "One prostin should do it," the doc had said. Sunday morning, still nothing but the labour ward was full so needed to wait for the second dose. Waters then broke of their own accord at 10.30am and contractions were very soon 5-7 minutes apart. Six hours of labour later my cervix was still posterior and prob only 1cm dilated.... to cut a long story short the drip was set up, I took the epidural option and labour never really became established. Every time the drip was changed to try and get the contractions needed to get Bean out, he became very distressed so we spent another seven hours listening to his heartbeat slow down and stop. In the end after one procedure after another (at one point dp said "blimey, I have never seen so many wires coming out of one person") we ended up in theatre.

Have been told by all concerned that I would never have pushed Bean out without being "ripped asunder" as one doc put it.
So, not the prettiest story but we are both utterly in love with our gorgeous lovely Bean and, the main thing, everyone is happy and healthy. Phew!!!

Awww Bean what can I say...after months of worry and talking/writing about the big event I am soooo soooo happy for you, I feel really emotional now, I am sorry it was such an ordeal but the main thing is you have Eran (fab name) I love it. God they weren't joking when they said you were havin' a bigin'

Looks like many of the October Meese are ending up with sections....hmmmm what's with the trend?

Well done you, I really hope that once we have all finally delivered and healed, that we can meet up and put some faces to these Darling Babies!!

Take good care of yourself - you deserve it if anyone does!! lots of hugs.

beansprout i am so glad you are both all right. Have been looking anxiously this week so to hear that all is well is, as others say, a relief.
Sorry it didn't go as you had hoped but then it generally doesn't! As you say, the main thing is everyone is here and healthy. Many congratulations.

CONGRATS BEANSPROUT and welcome to Eran (gorgeous, gorgeous name btw!!!)
Well, seems like long, drawn out labours followed by emergency c-sections are the way of the future, eh? You copying me?!
Glad you're all well and happy and your lady bits weren't torn asunder by the 10lb-der. Really, really pleased for you all - enjoy!

Oh, Bean, well done you and welcome to the world Eran! Really delighted for you and his safe if somewhat tardy arrival - I bet he's gorgeous.

Many many congratulations to you and your new little family.

Hurray!!!! Congratulations to you. I am so pleased to read your news. Welcome to Eran Joseph - love the names. Big ouch though, ds was 9.5 and that was pretty sore!!

(Finally got a minute to check birth announcements) Many congratulations Bean, so sorry it didn't all happen spontaneously for you after all and you ended up with so many interventions. At least it was painfree (presumably?) with the epidural and as you say the main thing now is that you have your bundle of joy. Welcome to Eran

WideWebWitch · 28/10/2004 20:40
