hi all and a big thanks to all who have sent their best wishes already.

heres my story

sunday morning 4am, woke up with painful contractions. luckily dd1 was spending the night at her grans so didnt have to worry about her! went down the stairs and made some tea and toast like i had been told to "for the long road ahead".

watched telly.

watched more telly.

contracts had started 10 mins apart, so i had been dead excited, phoning the hospital and everything! now they were 1 hr apart and i was in a bad mood. phoned hospital and they said "come in and we will check you over for reassurance".

hurray! 3cm dilated, but decided to go home, as only live 5 mins drive from hospital.

drove past house straight to mcdonalds for a big breakfast and oj. fantastic!

contracts started to quicken up but were irregular so didnt phone hospital again cos not too concerned.

by 11pm was bored so went to hospital. was 6cm dilated! suddenly contracts were 5 mins apart and they were wheeling in gas and air. brilliant! had about a hundred cannisters of the stuff lined up cos was panicking about running out (me not midwife). after 1hr contracts were so close together couldnt distinguish 1 from another, midwife gave me more gas and air, 3 pushes and kirstie was born!!!!!!!

amazing. took me 22 hrs but the actual labour bit was really quick. she is perfect, 7lb 2oz of pure gorgeousness.

got home next day and everything is going brilliant.
