What new baby gift would you appreciate?

Sorry, I'm not sure which thread to post this in!

My childhood friend (and family friend) has just had a baby girl. It's her second. We're not super close right now but I want to get her a gift. I want to hear from parents what the best gift ideas would be.

I know babies go through a lot of clothes but I always thought that was probably one of the most gifted things so I'm not sure that should be an option? Am I wrong?

My thoughts were to get a personalized letter/name/stack blocks
/something decorative.
Also thought muslin blanket/cloth, some sort of sleep aid (music, white noise type thing).

Any thoughts? What would you like to be gifted for new baby? Anything you can never have enough of?

Something my godmother got me for my daughter which was unusual and great was a lifetime diary. I love it - you complete quarterly plus photos etc. I wish I had one for my life!

Swimming costume for when they are ready
The best presents I received are a comforter he still uses at 2 and 2 hand knitted blankets we still use.
Clothes were good but not the fancy ones (the ones that were easy to put on as I was so scared and rubbish at Nappies he leaked for first couple of weeks)

I would also get mum some nice shower gel ( if she gets 30 seconds to be able to wash)

All the fancy boxes are in the attic not used

Thank you both! Those are really helpful replies.

@FluffMagnet I really like the idea of a lifetime diary. Is it possible to send me a link to something similar?
Would something like this personalized album/scrapbook be nice?

@lancslass17 Brilliant, thank you! I think maybe something like a comforter along with some sort of diary/album? And something for mum too! :)

I recently bought a gift for a friend and colleague from a company called Cheeky Chompers. It was one of their gift boxes. Parents were delighted with the gift.

Thank you! I will look into both of those! Smile

Check out 'Month of Sundays' diaries they are really lovely.

I was given various memory books, but never had the time to use them and have ended up feeling guilty. (Even the birthday memory book that only needs to be written in once a year was too much for me Sad)

I really appreciated being given a food delivery voucher... but that's not a gift for the baby.

Muslims were useful and also clothes for when the baby gets older.

Aargh! I hate autocorrect. Muslins NOT Muslims!
