Flossam's lump was a long time coming and rather large to say the least!

DD arrived yesterday after going twelve days over and having a somewhat dreaded induction!

The short version, called Isabelle and weighing in at 10lbs 7 oz. Yes it was ouch.

Long version was a planned home birth that never happened! Admitted yesterday and had first prostoglandin at about 10.30. Allowed out and about in the afternoon so went for a wonder to the shops and got a coffee. By the time we returned contractions coming roughly every 6/7 minutes although only very mild.

Examination showed 3cms dilated and able to have waters broken, so at 6 pm off we trotted to the delivery suite. Waters broken at 7, and pretty much straight away getting contractions 2-4 minutes apart. Tens machine I'm still not all that sure about!

At 8.30 was examined again and found to be 5cms, pain v v intense by now so opted for G & A which didn't cut the mustard quite as well as it did with DS. Got into kneeling position over the bed as they were concerned baby was back to back.

By about this point I could tell I was loosing my marbles which is what happened with DS! Had a big bloody show and panicked somewhat when midwife had to call for assistance, and then colleague came in, went out again immediately and came back with a huge piece of equipment called 'resuscitator'.

Delivered baby in about 8 minutes of pushing (apparently - felt like forever). All 10lbs 7 of her. She is lovely with huge hamster cheeks and rolls where I didn't know babies had rolls! Seems to be doing fairly well at the BF so far, she eats well so can only assume she started in the womb as she means to go on! A lot like her mother in fact. I'll see if i can get any pics up.

DS met her today and has given her lots of kisses and was very excited to meet her, ran straight past me! And he is keen to help by providing a finger for hungry Isabelle's to suck on. Her immunity is going to be brilliant .

It is sounding like feeding time again!

Congratulations!
I too had a 10lb+er, he had such lovely hamster cheeks and a roll of back fat that made DH call him the Baby gorilla! He fed and slept so well though and has been extremely healthy for his 18mths of life thus far.

Well done (I feel your pain).

TheMaskedPoster · 25/09/2007 20:22
