I don't really know what I'm expecting here, but I'm feeling so emotional and overwhelmed and relieved that my niece has just been born safely after a difficult labour, and can't stop crying! I feel a bit silly because I'm not the one who gave birth, and I'm not even at the hospital (I'll keep out of the way until they're ready for visitors), but I just need to let it out somewhere. I don't know what to do with myself!

When you say 'just' been born, does that mean after midnight? How exciting either way!

BillywilliamV · 01/01/2020 00:37

Being an Aunt is cool, far easier than being a mum!

Womenwotlunch · 01/01/2020 00:46

Thank you so much everyone!

@bearfood It was actually just before midnight! Very close though. It felt like I posted "just" after, but in reality I sat here sobbing for about half an hour first Blush

I've just been sent some pictures and been introduced to her by video call from the hospital! She is so special. And I'm so relieved they are all well. No words seem to do justice to the enormity of how this feels!

I only had a couple of aunts/uncles growing up, and we barely ever saw them because they lived far away, so I'm really looking forward to being present in her life (I live near my siblings), and hopefully having a really good relationship with her (and any siblings that might come along...).
