Just realised I should have posted here rather than on my childbirth thread!!

Birth Story:

Went into hospital at 4.30am ish tuesday 10th - was using my TENS and was told that I was only 3 cm - very disappointed. They let me stay to be monitored so bounced on the ball for an hour when my waters started to break. Further checking showed i'd gone to 6cm and after alot of delay they finally allowed me in the pool possibly about 10 am I think. Then went onto Gas and air. Was disappointed with the pool - it only helped when having a contraction and wiggling my hips and was not very comfy nor warm. Have bruises on my arms from hanging over the sides.
Was not allowed to birth in the pool so got out onto the bed - 1st hanging over the top end and then to deliver sitting.
Well, all I can say is that I COULDNT have done it without my DP - he was fantastic - if I couldnt have squeezed his hand and if he wasnt there to press on my back with every contraction I think I would have died. The worst was the pushing out - I thought I was going to split in two - apparently the cord was wraped round her neck and for 2 mins or so her heartbeat went to about 80, so the MW took drastic chicken boning action and gave me a crunchy episiotomy - Ouch! Out came a baby - when I asked what it was I was told "I dont know" and I had to wait.... but then I was in so much trauma and shaking and crying that I couldnt hold her and I was left like this for about an hour before being stitched up....lots of them it seems.

Having said that, I think I take the prize for the noisiest women giving birth - very animal!!!
We couldnt believe the carnage in the room and my DP was not very happy about the way I was treated. But we have a lovely girl and now we just have to name her. Now even thats proving hard!!!!

Congratulations, though I'm sorry the moment of the birth was less than perfect. I'm impressed by your sense of humour.

twoplusone · 13/07/2007 21:34

Congratulations justbeme.

daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 21:36

Congratulations again JBM

Miaou · 13/07/2007 21:36

Congratulations justbeme! Thank goodness for your lovely dp and I'm sorry you didn't get treated the way you wanted to be.

Am slightly that the pool wasn't warm enough - iirc it should be 38 degrees which IME is like a very hot bath! And also rather that they wouldn't let you deliver in there.

Anyway - now is not the time - congratulations on your lovely little girl (weight?) and good luck with choosing the name!

doggus · 14/07/2007 14:52

Well done justbeme, but sorry it was traumatising (((hugs))). Congratulations to you and your family.

annobal · 14/07/2007 15:32

Huge congratulations JBM. What a great birthday! Sorry about the crunchy episiotomy - hope things are healing nicely. Have you named her yet? xx

mumof4aceboys · 16/07/2007 21:25

Congratulations JBM. Shame the way you were treated but at least you are both ok. Bet she's as beautiful as your other daughter. Well done xx

Hulababy · 16/07/2007 21:27

Just to update on her name -
Took us a week to decide!!
Lucy Mae

My community MW turns out to be the supervisor of the MW who delivered Lucy, and she is going to go through my notes with her after Ive filled out a complaint form. She's very about what I went through (didnt post all the detials on here).
