Keeping pregnancy a secret over Christmas?

DH and I want to get the first trimester out the way before we tell. I am five weeks at the moment. We have three events before Christmas with both our families, and Christmas/new year itself and we normally love a drink. It definitely won't go unnoticed me not drinking, me turning down certain foods.. we've tried for so long for this baby and don't want to jinx it by saying too soon. How can I hide this? What excuses did people use for not drinking etc?

Or just order a coke and say it's a rum and coke? No one will know the difference or ask for a lemonade in a wine glass and say it's a spritzer 😁

Order soft and say you're driving?

Don't say you are on antibiotics, you may as well get a neon sign shouting 'i' m pregnant '.

As this is drinks on a Monday night, can you a) call off sick or b) drive or c) get DH on board and drink gin and tonic all night but just have tonic instead. It is easier to hide you are drinking if you opt for spirit and mixer style drinks.

No drink November for health reasons? Or because your team at work is doing it?

Won't last until Christmas but gets you through tonight...

Soda water, fresh lime and lots of ice. Looks like a G&T or vodka and soda. Tastes good, looks good, doesn't invite questions. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Wine and soda in a pint glass then next round of buy just a soda and just keep topping it up

Lime and soda is a good option if you are a GandT drinker. Non alco cocktails are good too.
If you normally drink wine, elderflower presse in a flute fooled a few of my friends but agree with some of the above, order a real one and just keep swapping an empty with a good friend/ husband.

I also made up a long story about public transport/ uber failing which forced me to drive to an event which convinçed several collegues a few weeks ago.

Antibiotics screams 'up the duff!' As it is party season, stinking hangover is the one i would go with 😁

Congrats on baby
