Kitty's no. 6 finally decides to arrive 18 days late

Thought I'd better announce the very late arrival of baby Ronnie!! He came 18 days late on Easter Sunday.
He is named after my Grandad and was born on what would have been the 99th birthday of my gran who died in September
He was born at 4.22 pm and weighed 8lbs 4ozs.

I'm not sure exactly when labour started as I'd been having very on off contractions since early in the morning and didn't actually believe I was in labour even just before he was born.
I kept asking ther midwive if he was going to be born today !!

He was born in my bedroom at home. I think from the onset of regular, painful contractions he took 1hr 20 mins to come, so quite quick I guess.

This was the first time I didn't tear and the placenta delivered itself almost as soon as he was born!!

I had gone into hospital earlier in the day for ctg monitoring but they didn't have a spare monitor so I decided to go home and whilst on the way out of the hospital felt the contractions start again.
Dp and I were desperately trying to get OUT of the hospital and go home for him to be born, usually it should be the other way round .

Anyway, today is the first day he has been settled. He cried as soon as he was born and has only just stopped, gut problems I think.

Having 6 kids is mental

CocoLoco · 11/04/2007 20:23

Congratulations - six would be my ideal number of children, like the Sound of Music (or is that 7?) Great birth too! Enjoy

kittyhas6 · 11/04/2007 20:43

Greeny, I had assumed that Ronnie was a rather unpopular name ATM, most people go strangely silent on being told

Congratulations Kitty, what a lovely family. Hope it is all going well for you, i will wait with baited breath to see how it goes. My #6 is due in 4 weeks......

Please tell me the afterpains are not too bad, i asked the midwife to look for another baby after i had #5. Im dreading them more than the birth.

I keep forgetting that I have an extra one, have to count them in an out. The older ones are being very good, even the other baby, bless her!

Thank you so much for your afterpain advice on the May thread! I am dreading it, they were so awful last time i was convinced i had atwin hiding in there somewhere! I will follow you advice to the letter.

This monster is still breech at 36 wks though so may have a spinal for relief at this rate, think we should get mobile epidurals for the aftrepains anyway

Will keep looking for you on the threads to see how it is all going xxxx thank you again xxxx
