Was booked an eagerly anticipated homebirth as 2 previous labours were rapid and easy - under 2hrs both times.

So when finally proper contractions started 9pm Weds at 3 mins apart, called midwife, was told 4cms and she'd stay.
By midnight it had all tailed off, progressed only 1cm despite getting so bad I was throwing up. Was upright whole time, but contractions while powerful were erratic
this continued or not as the case was until 2am when m/w suggested breaking my waters - I wasn't keen, but an hour later of the same agreed.
Nothing... it stopped totally...
Anwy cut to chase, by 5.30am was knackered, opted for hospital transfer via ambulance, with likelihood on drip to speed up things when I got there. Dp stayed behind to wait for his parents to come to look after dd and ds - about an hour away
Was obviously gutted and emotional but exhausted and ready for it to be over.

Murphys Law, 15 mins super fast drive over a bumpy road got things moving, started getting contractions 4 mins apart and painful on the way (it was snowing and we had blue flashing lights despite not being in a real hurry)
Got to delivery, bam started feeling things rather heftily. Llovely m/w there was due to clock off at 6.45 but said she could see I was close to delivering and would stay
it was her and me, she had a great skill at back massage.
Was in serious pain at this point and did the usual, I'm out of here, not doing this anymore. Had gas and air but found it impossible to coordinate due to pain levels! Was on all fours on the bed leaning over raised bed
I told her I needed to push, she said ok, dp walked in the door just before head was crowning, then out tumbled Finbar Seamus (Finn) easy as you like at 7.27am.

I cried - not just with finally having this little guy but with relief.

It was so hard compared to the other two - I was psychologically unprepared and felt traumatised, despite it being a bloody good delivery and outcome by any standards

Freaked out when told Finn had a knot in his umbilical cord which could have been serious but luckily wasn't.

Had injection for placenta advised to as was so tired I agreed and it was out in minutes.
then had a bath, came home
Finn fed like a trooper from the off, still eating like no tomorrow
So Finn 8lbs 3oz 55 cms long EDD 23/3 he was born 22/3 7.27 am

He is of course the most gorgeous baby in the world - but then I had the two best ones before so naturally I'd have a 3rd the same

I'm loving it - 36 hours on and I'm feeling much better...

Anyway I'm rambling and going on
pics are on my profile link thingy

Special hellos to all those who supported on the TTC and TTC after loss threads...
And everyone who got me throught those awful last days when Was I or was I not in labour?
xx Piff
