Baby Maya Peach arrived a little unexpectedly on 13.2.07 at 3.11pm weighing 5lb 9oz.
Our C section was booked for the 15th but my waters broke as I was preparing to go to hospital for my appointment with the anaesthetist at about 11:00am on the Tuesday.
I had a bit of a panic getting hold of Dh as his busiest day at work is a Tuesday (hence the original booking on the Thursday) His mobile was in his office and I had to look online to get the phone number of his department! I was getting quite distressed by this stage and when the secretary rang back and said he was teaching and would be finished at 12. I wailed down the phone ?Nooo you have to get him?. 5 minutes later he was on the way to the station.
We then got to the hospital and they were waiting for us. My waters were still leaking and as Maya was breech they were coloured due to meconium and I started to have quite strong contractions. Everything was explained to me, and we were taken into theatre. It was all over quite quickly and our baby was delivered safe and sound. Everyone in the delivery room was so lovely, chatting away to us. Dh was able to cuddle her while I was being stitched and dressed her, guided by the midwife. At the moment she is too small for the newborn clothes we bought so he was sent out to buy emergency supplies!
She is a tiny little dot and we had some feeding problems with a bit of dehydration and jaundice. I had an emotional day and night in the hospital but am feeling much better now we are home.
We came home late afternoon on Friday and the midwife is happy with her, she has actually put on a bit of weight! Life will not be the same in the peachy household!!!
