As some of you know my sister was due at the beginning of June. The baby (a boy) was diagnosed by scans as having kidney problems. They threw around a whole load of ideas ranging from conditions incompatible with life to minor cysts that could go away on their own. Anyway she was closely monitored and they perhaps were going to do surgery in utero, or induce or c-section. Well......
She went into labour naturally yesterday morning and he was born just before 9am this morning. Mum doing great. He (I won't give the name as its not my place) has been scanned and one kidney is completely non-functioning but the other is totally normal. He is being kept in until he passes urine, but it looks as though (although he will live life with only one kidney) he will need no surgery, long term antibiotic treatment or anything else.
A huge thank you to all of you who helped me in the last few months with helpful advice, links, or just kind words.
Now she is on maternity leave I am going to introduce her to the joys of MN so you may all "meet" her very soon
