Here's an excerpt from the story. It reads to me as if it was a planned caesarian, done earlier than due date....in that time honoured celebrity tradition. But, of course, I could be wrong.

By NICK PARKER

GERI Halliwell gave birth to a baby girl last night — after refusing to allow the tot’s dad to be present.

Ex-Spice Girl Geri, 33, checked into a suite at London’s Portland Hospital early yesterday to prepare for a Caesarean section.

Her mum Anna Maria was with her at the birth — which was not due until later this month.

The baby was delivered at 9pm by top obstetrician Malcolm Gillard, who delivered David and Victoria Beckham’s first son Brooklyn.

Mr Gillard was also flown to Spain to oversee the birth of Posh’s third son Cruz and was recommended to Geri.

A hospital source said last night: “The birth went well. Mother and daughter are doing fine.”

suzywong · 23/05/2006 10:34

What, pray, did you expect?
Feel sorry for Geri's little dog/baby substitute she used to carry round in her handbag, bet that's wandering the streets now.

Earlybird · 23/05/2006 10:37

Didn't read the endless pages of interview (who knew Geri had so much to say?), but there was some headline about how Scarlett O'Hara is one of her heros and Scarlett had a daughter named Blue...

i know someone with a teenager called bluebell

Esmummy · 23/05/2006 10:40

Bluebell Madonna Shock.
Makes Stella sound quite normal in comparison

LipstickMum · 23/05/2006 10:44

Ah, Bluebell is quite sweet (although I wouldn't choose it myself!!) All the bluebells are out in may so that's probably why she chose it. My dd is born in May and she has been saying that "It's my birthday in May with the bluebells!".

HappyMumof2 · 23/05/2006 10:59

sorry but rofl at the name - especially Madonna - pmsl Grin Grin

RedZuleika · 23/05/2006 11:05

It's been a while since I've seen 'Gone with the Wind' and I've never read the book... but I would swear Scarlett's daughter is called Bonny.

HappyMumof2 · 23/05/2006 11:08

just had a look - baby very sweet actually Smile (suprisingly - am I allowed to say that?? Blush)

I wonder if it's the first glimpse the father's had of her........

sugarfree · 23/05/2006 11:18

Wasn't Scarlett's daughter called Bonny Blue Butler?

Bugsy2 · 23/05/2006 11:37

Scarlett & Rhett's daughter was definitely Bonny Blue Butler.

acnebride · 23/05/2006 11:42

manitz · 24/05/2006 13:19

i know this is a bit late but she is 33. was in the year above me at school, i'm 33 so if she's born in second half of year cld easily be 33 or is knocking off a year which would just be odd. was going to say something rude about prem aging but wont bother Grin

EmmyLou · 24/05/2006 14:54

Bluebell Madonna??? ffs - sounds like a religious statue of a donkey. Shall we all start making up her school nicknames now so she has a chance to get used to them? Nice to see anyone looking happy with a new baby (can't be that hard if you're being paid for the pics) but babies need fathers too Sad

mummyto2littleprincess · 26/05/2006 23:59

i think its a stupid name

dinny · 27/05/2006 00:04

Really like Bluebell. My childhood tortoise was Bluebell, lol.

But the Madonna bit is horrible.
