Phoebe Elena arrived on 7th Jan at 18.33pm by emergency caesarian. I would have posted much earlier but I have spent the last week and a half in and out of hospital. Anyway, went in for induction on 5th Jan. Had three lots of prostoglandin gel and lots of painful type contractions before I was only 2 cm dilated. On the 7th Jan I had my waters broken for me, put on a drip to bring on contractions, given epidural which didn't work! By 5.30 I had only dilated another 1 cm and baby's heart beat was slowing so taken for emergency section. Very scary but relieved to get baby out safely and she arrived a whopping 10lb 1oz!!! Have been out of hospital and back in since with heavy blood loss and had to have blood transfusion. Wonderful to be back home with Phoebe who is gorgeous. It was well worth it. Just trying to get to grips with the b feeding now!

kiwicath · 17/01/2004 11:27

Deeno - well done my girl!! My heart goes out to you over your difficult delivery but what a whoppa of a little girl you had!! Well done both of you.

deeno · 21/01/2004 18:23

Thanks for all your good wishes. It's chaos at home and a bit of a culture shock having a little person totally dependent on me 24, 7 after spending all my life only responsible for myself. B/feeding is going well. Phoebe really clever and knows exactly what to do. Lydialemon I am British, although have some relatives who live in Crete. Dp and I just loved the name Phoebe and Elena is my mum's name, although it is spelt Eleanor. I believe Elena is the way it is spelt in Greece?

Congratulations Deeno and Phoebe . I understand some of what you went through as I had a similar experience last weekend but isn't it all so worth it?? . Things get better everyday!
