Baby Skoglet is here!!! - A Loo Ordeal

Baby Isabel Clara Luna Ekroth was born on Friday 9th Nov, 6 days overdue, at 1157am GMT. She weighed 4.22kg (9lbs ish). Mamma and Pappa would like to thank all the staff at South Tyneside District Hospital for all the care and support we all received.

Oh my goodness though! What an ordeal!

My waters broke at about 1630hrs on Thursday whilst I was chillin' on the couch at my Mums. So off we went to the hospital. After some monitoring for an hour, we were given a time to come in the following evening for induction on the Saturday morning. I needed a quick pop to the loo before we set off but found out I was bleeding. The consultant came in and decided there and then to proceed with the induction.

Labour progressed as well as could be expected.

The last exam I had I was 7cm. About 30mins later the midwife commented that I hadn't been to the toilet for the last 6 hours so she said I needed to try and pee. In between massive contractions, I waddled to the loo. Sat there for a bit and decided I was not going to pee but felt a huge contraction coming. "Oh my God! She's coming!!!" I screamed (the MW was outside the loo door). "No she's not. Just stay calm and try to pee".
"No no no! She really IS coming!!!!"
So the MW came in, got me off the toilet and was like "No she's.... OMG! SHE'S COMING!" She yelled to my DH so get his head in the corridor and call for urgent help!

After zero amounts of pushing, gravity delivered a very healthly baby girl into the arms of the MW whilst I was stood up leaning on a bin. Blush

I was in complete shock and, I suppose, it hasn't totally hit home yet but right now I have a little girl who needs me. We are now at home and can relax and come to terms with it all.

Wow! What a way to make an entrance!

Congratulations on the birth of Isabel :)

Skoggy · 10/11/2012 20:39

Thanks Smile

Incidently, the reason she has Luna as a middle name is because the midwives commented that she arrived like a little shooting star. We didn't fancy Astra that much so went for Luna instead. That and Luna is a pretty name afterall.
