ARE YOU STILL HAPPY WITH THE NAME YOU CHOSE?

DD is now 9 weeks old and I'm really not sure about the name we've given her. It took three weeks to come up with a name and I felt very hormonal, disorganised and hassled at the time and enormous pressure from everyone to name her. We eventually chose a long name which can be shortened a variety of ways, but I'm increasingly unsure about it in all it's options.
Has anyone else had similar experiences? might it grow on me, or should I change it now before she learns it herself. How easy is it to change their name once registered? Does anyone have any suggestions, what I really wanted was a two syllable name ending in 'a'; like anna, or emma etc??

I would have liked to number my kids (like the Chinese (?) Number One Son etc) until they were old enough to choose their own. Still would, but too late now...fortunately they all seem quite happy with what they've got.

So glad all is ok. Haven't been able to mail you because we have a flaming virus on the computer so I can't send any mails. Hopefully this will be sorted this weekend. Can receive them though (HUGE HINT...) Wink

I still love the names we gave the dd's - both were chosen before they were born - special meaning.

They both suit their names and I can't imagine them being anything else...

CaptainDippy · 30/03/2006 12:33

Difficult - Very easy to change name in the 1st year I think - Just ask at your local registry office.

DD1's name is perfect - wasn't even one we'd thought of before she was born and as soon as she was born, she sort of named herself! DD2 wasn't like that (I was whacked out on drugs when she was born though, so could have been a contributing factor!! Wink) We had sort of got 2 names name picked out and we had sort of decided on one the night before I went into be induced. It ended up being a big toss up between the two names (Elisabeth and Sophia fyi) and we chose Sophia - I love the name and she has grown into it - but I do not feel that it is as passionately "right" as DD1's name - I sometimes think "Are you an Elisabeth!!?", but I am sure that as she grows, she will become more of a Sophia to me, if that makes any sense at all!!? - So I do understand and sympathise with your deliemma amber5 - Hope you come up with a solution soon. Smile xx
