Just a note to let you know that InternationalBabe, Jacob James, 7lbs arrived safely on March 20th after a speedy labour.
I don't know if it had anything to do with the timing but on Saturday March 18th I ate a whole pineapple and did some serious nesting. On Sunday March 19th at 11pm just after going to bed I felt a 'pop'. Thought it was weird but dismissed it and about 3 minutes later the waters dribbled onto the sheets. DH and I realised this is it - YAY! - no turning back now. Contractions didn't become regular until about 12:30am.

DH had a shower while I finished packing my bag, then I had a shower while he called in the sitter to stay with dds, the vehicle that would take us to the hospital and the hospital to let them know we were on our way.

On the way to the hospital I monitored the contractions at about every 5 minutes. Upon arrival at the maternity unit at approx 1:30am I was examined and found to be 3cms dilated. DH and I were left to labour which suited us just fine, the hospital MW's were on call just outside the door if we needed assistance - they expected us to be awhile considering I was ONLY 3cms. Contractions became stronger and longer and at 2:55am I asked the MW to examine again - 5-6cms. I asked for the G&A which was brought and I took it between contractions while during the contractions I focussed on my breathing and 'relaxing' consciously trying not to tense up. At 3:15am I was examined again and 8cms - "WOW" we thought - moving quickly. MW said I'll go call your obstetrician 'she'll be here in about 20 minutes'. When she came back in off the phone Jacob was beginning to crown she says "are you pushing?" I said (or groaned rather) "I'm trying not to" - while DH was standing beside me cheering like I was a racehorse in the homestretch. Two contractions later Jacob was born at 3:30am - obstetrician didn't make it. She didn't make it for the placenta either - I did that one all by myself Grin Jake and I both came through very well - no tearing for me and he's a little charmer - perfect at 7lbs.
Babe and I stayed in the hospital just one more night to be sure we established some feeding and to make sure DH was able to go home and have one good nights sleep before Jake and I came home, especially after being up all night the night before. We arrived home this afternoon - I have called in the housekeeper to help with cleaning/laundry tomorrow while Jake and I settle into home. The DD's are happy to have their little brother home and DH is pleased as ever to have another male in the house.

Me? - I'm just really happy my last labour (this really is the last) and birth turned out to be fast, 'early' (was due on the 25th) and we both came through safely - oh - and happy to be home tonight in my own bed with my own pillows, eating what I like to eat with my little family. Smile
