Baby Bram Thomas was born on 21st February, by c section, a huge 9lb 14oz.
It was all alot more calm and relaxed than my last section, and I was able to hear him cry and hold him straight away (ds1 was whisked off to clear meconium). I also had a fantastic friend as a birth parter, which helped alot.
After almost letting us home 4 times, we ended up staying in hospital a week , as he had an infection that required an IV drip. But all back safely now, and welcoming any tips on the logistics of living with a toddler and a newborn!

Congratulations Ixel. Smile

You are quite close to me i think. I had a toddler and new born but i think things are slightly different if you have had a c/section too.

Strongly recommend not caring about routines too much!

Bag/box of special toys only for when feeding Bram to curb jealousy.

Get toddler involved and "helping" you as much as possible - they will love the attention and praise etc and again stops jealousy.

Quite close to me as in live quite close!

Congratulations ixel! Great news. Welcome to Mumsnet baby Bram :)
PS Have been watching out for you for what seems like aeons to say ds and dd both adore the Richard Scarry set and it is being well-loved :)

Congrats Ixel.

The only tips I an gicve (13.5 months between my eldest) are take time to enjoy every second, try baby in a baby swing or in front of the tumble drier as that gave DS1 and I valuable time, sleep when you can and get lots of photos as the memories fade quicker when you're busy.

Congratulations, Ixel! :o

ellenrose · 06/03/2006 14:30

congratulations - so pleased your new addition is ok now.

definately echo advice already given about slings and getting your toddler to help - they relish having an important job to do. Always good reading stories whilst feeding your new babe if you can manage it to keep up the 121 time too.

Thanks everyone! Sling thing working ok, but its still more hassle than just having a big belly in front of you! And the feeding is so erratic, its more time spent getting him in and out of it than anything else. How do you breastfeed one handed when you've got a very droopy chest now, that needs holding in position? Smile
At least 2 wks down the line, ds1 almost likes me again, and I think I'm forgiven for being in hosp so long...
Marina... God, that was soooo long ago!
