Thanks all & now for the gory details.....

Due date arrived 19/01 had a midwife appointment at 3om, so attended that whilst there being checked found i had slightly high blood pressure & also + of protein in my urine, so midwife decided she would like me to go up to EPU or labour ward if it was later than 4.30pm (which it was as had to wait for dp to arrive home from work)

So we set of for labour ward at 5.30pm so my blood pressure could be re- checked & also my urine & blood tests taken in case of pre-eclampsia! whilst there i was put on a monitor this was about 7.20pm first time, i had slight back pains few twinges but was thinking it was all in my mind because i was sitting on a ward with others who were in labour!

Then later had to be put back on monitor before i was allowed home, this was at 9.36pm my back started feeling very painful but still ignored it cause my bed was calling i was shattered had been up since 6.30am with ds!

Anyway everything ok left hospital whilst walking to car had to stop twice as the pain was now taking my breath away!

Got home decided to time the pains, they were about 7 mins apart & only lasting bout 40 secs so thought i would have a bath dp went to have a sleep, i was in to much pain to sleep! Bath just made things worse for me so decided to get out, kept myself busy as found it easier walking around!
about 2.40am decided to go & lie on ds's bed (he was at sisters) pain was getting that bad i was on all fours on the bed breathing through them, got to 3am stormed into the bedroom told dp i could not bare anymore i needed pain relief & i needed it now, so rang hospital they said come down so told dp at which point he had put the kettle on & said can i just have a quick coffee eh no i said are you joking? to which he replied no i need to wake up typical man!!

Anyway got to hospital had to wait for bed to be made so was sitting in waiting room being sick in a nice carboard hat type thing! Got to the bed examined to which i was 4cm dilated ( i was quite stunned thought she was going to say 1cm) started on the gas & air, it was now 4.05am i was in agony, being sick & trying to breath through the pain, about 3 contractions later i was screaming & begging dp to press the bell to get a midwife as i really wanted more pain relief, she turned up & said we will move you to a delivery room, so off i went (whilst worrying about if dp had picked my knickers up off the chair which i had taken off when i arrived

By the time i got there i was begging for an epidural to which she replied i think you are to far now i will examine you (in my mind i was thinking did she really say no? oh please i thought, now i really am going to die)
Anyway she examined me & i had gone from 4cm to 9.5cm & had a overwhelming urge to push, (whilst shouting OMG i am going to pooh) midwife replied no your not i said i am i can feel it i am going to do a pooh, to which she replied again "no it's your baby's head" Anyway 9 mins & 3 pushes later out came baby Sophie,at 5.14am weighing 7lb 14ozs exactly the same as her brother. I am in
total shock that i had actually given birth with no epidural because i am the biggest baby walking the earth i HATE needles my pain barrier is zilch!

But i am here & alive I had 1 small tear internally but no need for stitch & just grazing so i was very very happy.

Sophie is adorable, her brother is loving her he strokes her head & says "mummy she is beautiful"
She has taken to the breast well but my boobs are sore, but i am hanging on in there, even know i only got 2hrs sleep from 5am - 7am as she was awake wanting food all night!

Thanks for all your lovely messages Sophie's pic is in member profiles xx
